Fresh from FX R&D - The FX Halfbreed

Fresh off the FX remote R&D Workshop bench... The Half Breed - Part Maverick, Part Wildcat Mk3 BT, All Fun!! As pictured, a Maverick/Wildcat Halfbreed hybrid with custom 380mm Superior .22 barrel with Huggett Snipe moderator, 300cc CF Bottle, and Saber Tactical TRS Rail. With a Huggett Belitta moderator (it was on another gun at the time of this pic) the gun is 25in muzzle to Buttstock.. Talk about a compact that packs a whollop!! Enjoy..

Is the stock something that would work for current Maverick owners. ? Or something you modified ? Looks good .

It's not a stock mod.. The gun is a Wildcat MK3 BT with Maverick tube supports and a ST Maverick TRS Rail. The Maverick Action won't fit into a Wildcat Stock. Although "Technically the Same" performance wise, there are physical differences between the Maverick Action and the Wildcat action.

For all interested.. this isn't an "Easy" mod or an inexpensive one. It requires you swap the Wildcat Tube Supports with ones from a Maverick which requires Full Disassembly and Reassembly of the gun. The supports aren't too bad at roughly $50 each (requires two, Front and Rear) and the ST TRS Rail isn't a "Budget" item at $250.. Custom 380mm barrel cost depends on what your machinist is going to charge to shorten a stock FX barrel housing (FX doesn't make a 380mm STX barrel housing. Then for super compact you need a Hugget Atom, Belita, or Snipe moderator. They are the only moderators I know of that will fit over a CF bottle. All in... Do the math :)

A case for the FX & LEGO design attributes.
Just like a lot of O-rings degrade service ease & long term reliability .. So does lots of individual parts screwed together make for a potential POI shifty design.

Not hater words ... Observations of the past

Excellent points! With more parts the requirement for precise tolerances goes through the ROOF!!! Just like many have tried to copy real LEGOs for decades and still failed because no one has the machineries and expertise to produce parts with that level of precision. FX are just like LEGO, they have in house machineries to produce all parts of the guns so their parts are made with extreme precision. I currently have 4 FX guns and tons of barrels and parts, not once have I come across a part that suppose to fit correctly but didn't. It's a testament to their level of manufacturing precision, very impressive IMHO.

That being said many parts do easily induce user errors in assembly including from factory, simple inconsistent torque settings on bolts could create issues. Thankfully anyone can call FX USA and walk through the issues with their very knowledgable techs. I also found the front TP adjustment mechanism on crown and dreamline not really necessary(to me) and don'e use it, it can be greatly simplified with removable chokes.

They are also slowly removing parts and make things simpler like their superlight barrels, new one piece TP/liner holder. The new Panthera also has moved away from highly adjustable to focus on high power with fewer parts and less interchangeable pieces to maximize performance. They are definitely shifting from 1 gun does it all to couple of do it all guns and application specific/max performance guns. BUT just like my son I still love my legos, in part why I haven't bought a Panthera yet. What fun is buying a gun and just shoot it? Who leaves their 4x4 alone? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
