Frog Hunting?

We used to frog hunt a lot with .22 RF. A good brain shot anchors them in place. We did some more frog hunting in my adult years, but we usually put the rifles away, cleaned the frogs we had, and ended the night and early morning drinking whiskey and telling lies. Maybe it's a southern thing, but we had a good time. Good memories. Two of my best friends and frog hunting buddies past away before their time, which makes the memories special. Put the legs in a frying pan with a little salt and watch them jump! Tastes like chicken.

I did a fair amount of bullfrog hunting in the 1970s with a .177 FWB 124 springer. VERY challenging to anchor them with brain shots, considering the target area no larger than a dime and all offhand shooting.
I also shot frogs at ponds in Maine in 1976 with a 177 FWB 124. Love frog legs.

i have taken them with airguns for years and still do with my crown MK2 compact
in .22 with the DNT zulus optic.
earlier back in the day, i always used my Benny 312 .22 with 5 pumps and an old weaver
scope. My dad gave it to me when i was 12......53 years ago. He bought it new the year i was born.
Yes, i still have it and it is in perfect working order after Dennis baker himself restored it 10 or so years ago. :sneaky:

Had to check , here in PA, a fishing license is needed to harvest frogs. No firearms allowed ( they haven't mentioned airguns, assume the same). Season July 1 to Oct.1. Gigs ,traps , fishing tackle, archery equip.(No airbolts in PA). Maybe someday We'll catch up:rolleyes:. Oh and no night /light hunting!

They are legal in Misery but huntable numbers are gone. Tons of Trash Pandas and various kinds of Herons are in Misery. They should be legal to shoot. Trash Pandas were trapped for fur when I was a kid. You didn't see one hit by a car not picked up in 30 minutes during daylight. Now few trap and some idjits feed them. DEATH TO COONS. Be Well Brothers, 'dito.
