FWB 300 & 300s in competition ‘60 & ‘70s

That really shows how far airguns went in even the next few decades. I think a world class shooter could take a FWB300 to a modern match and go home sorely beaten.

Of course those air rifles are now 40+years old. Like racing cars that dominate in an era they become iconic. People don’t necessarily still want to take them to a competition but still enjoy driving them. People still enjoy shooting the 300s.

In one of the recent 10M Benchrest match’s that I missed because of work a 300 finished second shooting 498/500. He beat several PCP’s.

I agree! A quality gun is a quality gun period. I own and enjoy a FWB300 myself. As for the recent FWB300 success as for the match....at the end of the day it's still about the shooter! I'm sure my rifle would be a winner if it wasn't for the nut behind the trigger!

In 2017 USA Benchrest Indoor Spring piston league we had (8) FWB300 competing Nationally against each other and 7 from the Holbrook, Ma winter league. My 300s took aggregate best of three 750 match with a 2171 Aggregate score which included one 247/ 250 card. Basically that is missing the 3/32 X ring 3 times out of 25 scoring shots. Runner up was 7 points behind me and 3rd place score came out of California 15 point behind 2nd place. Yes those FWB 300 are still very competitive in the piston class at 25 meters.

My 300 S shooting H&N Finale Match 8.18grs pellets has shot a 5-shot group through the exact same hole at 16yds outdoors. I measured outsides edge to edge at .174. That tells you how precision made these barrels were.
