The Running Boar or Running Target must be scoped, there are no provisions for open sights. They did not come with a scope and any scope can be used but there were scopes developed for the discipline. They had 2 posts and 4 adjustment knobs, the one Beeman sold was made by B Nickel and I think they were only allowed 4x in competitions.

this is what the reticle looks like of a true running target scope such as the B Nickel.

I would think that reticle would be unique! I could see how you could use the distance between the posts to judge your lead on a moving target. You couldn’t use it for anything else! Really interesting. The pellets in the the tin were all a bit oxidised but looked pretty much the same as the Final match pellets made now. They were in layers separated by a sheet of cardboard.

Thanks for the info and photos.

Regards Michael.

Exactly. The distance between the posts can be adjusted, too. RT competition is shot in two rounds with the target moving at different speeds, so this is obviously important.

The RT models also have a unique single-stage trigger, and a smooth wood buttplate. The latter is needed to keep the gun from catching on your shooting jacket, as each shot is fired starting with the gun off the shoulder.
