To me the FWB 65 & 80 balance more like a rimfire or centerfire pistol. More weight back over the hand. I have never held or handled a FWB P8X so no idea there. I also have one of the IZH 46M and it is or was a true 10m pistol. Good sight radius, absolutely no recoil and a fantastic trigger, mine is probably less that 2 ounces.I really wanted that FWB65 from the classifieds, but I have an IZH 46M and I assumed it would be about the same. I have a true 10 meter pistol on the way, an FWB P8X. I still want an FWB 65..
That P8x will ruin you for the rest of your guns. It’s so good you will be able to clearly sense your mistakes. It’s a platform that is worth every dime of the asking price. But I do have to say after shooting a IZH46M with quality grips, you could stop there and not be missing out on much. The FWB 65 is amazing for a springer but still a springer where the IZH provides a compressor less alternative to a modern PCP that’s performance is surprisingly close. The bottom picture is sniped from EBay and illustrates the fact that the factory IZH grips are at the wrong angle to lock your arm as the modern 10 meter pistols do.I really wanted that FWB65 from the classifieds, but I have an IZH 46M and I assumed it would be about the same. That would make it the least expensive I have ever seen! Thanks for that @rokonman , I will get the P8X Tuesday (missed a delivery attempt Saturday!). I am excited to test it against the Baikal. I do have Rink grips on the IZH 46, just like in your photo. Hopefully the P8X will be worth it...I got a good deal at $1100 delivered. At least I think that that was a good deal ;-)
I do not think the FWB PCP pistol would ruin anything . i think the IZH is a pistol on its own i like the time slowly cocking the IZH gives you to analyze the shot you just made . I had an attaché case fixed up with a quiet target in one side and a foam liner pistol cutout on the other great for hotel rooms and nobody ever heard the IZH . A friend is using it now in their travels .That P8x will ruin you for the rest of your guns. It’s so good you will be able to clearly sense your mistakes. I should say it ruined me for other pistols. I agree the Izzy is a fantastic shooter in its own right and like I said amazingly close in all out performance. I disagree on the noise though, I think they are very close.I do not think the FWB PCP pistol would ruin anything . i think the IZH is a pistol on its own i like the time slowly cocking the IZH gives you to analyze the shot you just made . P>S> they would hear the PCP .
ok i shoot the Morini EI and it has a pop sound . certainly not loud but a higher pitch that seems to travel a bit more .I should say it ruined me for other pistols. I prefer to grasp the gun like I am shooting, with right hand, lay the barrel alongside my thigh or right knee and pull the lever back, It seems to be less pressure on my shooting hand that way.The 65 and Izzy are two pretty awesome pistols! Years ago, I made the choice which to keep and went with the FWB. Which I still love, mind you - but now really wish I'd just hung on to the IZH, too.
If you're an old cuss with creaky joints like me, here's a trick for cocking the FWB springers. The traditional method is: hold it upright - grab lever overhand - pull sideways, like so:

But I find it's much easier on wrists and elbows to: hold it palm up - grab lever underhand - pull up, ta dahh:

Thank you! But...those hands actually belong to my lovely bride of 47 years. Her paws are much nicer than mine!As usual this may be an aside. But Mdriskill your hands remind me of those of my maternal Grandfathers' He was a great man in my eyes. And now back to your regularly scheduled air gun drivel. Wonderful stuff gentlemen.
