FWB 80, ten shot group from cold & a 5 shot group

This evening I put 15 RWS R10 8.2gn pellets through my FWB 80. The last time I shot this pistoI I used H&N Excite Plinking (gives high velocity & reasonable outdoor 15-25 yd plinking accuracy), and JSB RS 7.3 gn (excellent accuracy, best so far I believe).

10 shot group shot from cold, standing, 10 yds, 2 handed grip:

And shortly after a 5 shot group using a target link provided in the air pistol competition thread (thanks guys!):

2 handed grip is very doable even with the ergonomic match grips. Note the pistol has a barrel sleeve in lieu of the barrel weights (which I don't find visually appealing).

Very pleased to own this pistol, it brings me a lot of joy every time I handle it or shoot it.

.....benefits of a steel piston ring, which has the same expansion rate as the chamber it is running within. Total consistency.

Makes one wonder why we went off all over the place with tetchy plastic seals, O rings and any other crazy ideas we had for sealing.

Top notch engineers those guys at FWB back then.....they described it as adequate for purpose...it won everything going.

Isn't that the truth Steveoo. Built to last, with pride of craftsmanship, performance and unrivaled quality as true north vs. building to a price point with "acceptable" compromises and shortcomings; the latter being commonplace nowadays...

Canto XLV, of Ezra Pound's epic "The Cantos" comes to mind. In it's entirety:

With Usura

With usura hath no man a house of good stone

each block cut smooth and well fitting

that design might cover their face,

with usura

hath no man a painted paradise on his church wall

harpes et luz

or where virgin receiveth message

and halo projects from incision,

with usura

seeth no man Gonzaga his heirs and his concubines

no picture is made to endure nor to live with

but it is made to sell and sell quickly

with usura, sin against nature,

is thy bread ever more of stale rags

is thy bread dry as paper,

with no mountain wheat, no strong flour

with usura the line grows thick

with usura is no clear demarcation

and no man can find site for his dwelling.

Stonecutter is kept from his tone

weaver is kept from his loom

WITH USURA

wool comes not to market

sheep bringeth no gain with usura

Usura is a murrain, usura

blunteth the needle in the maid’s hand

and stoppeth the spinner’s cunning. Pietro Lombardo

came not by usura

Duccio came not by usura

nor Pier della Francesca; Zuan Bellin’ not by usura

nor was ‘La Calunnia’ painted.

Came not by usura Angelico; came not Ambrogio Praedis,

Came no church of cut stone signed: Adamo me fecit.

Not by usura St. Trophime

Not by usura Saint Hilaire,

Usura rusteth the chisel

It rusteth the craft and the craftsman

It gnaweth the thread in the loom

None learneth to weave gold in her pattern;

Azure hath a canker by usura; cramoisi is unbroidered

Emerald findeth no Memling

Usura slayeth the child in the womb

It stayeth the young man’s courting

It hath brought palsey to bed, lyeth

between the young bride and her bridegroom

CONTRA NATURAM

They have brought whores for Eleusis

Corpses are set to banquet

at behest of usura.

Wow, kind of hard to follow that post with anything that doesn't sound trite. But I'll do it anyway.

I find the mechanical aspects of springers interesting. Even screwed up my courage and got well acquainted with the workings of the GISS system over the holidays. I think I would really enjoy one of those FWB's EXCEPT that I have a vivid imagination and don't think I'd ever get entirely comfortable sticking a digit into that sliding breech. Do you just have to "believe" or is there a loading technique that would ease my mind?

Thanks and enjoying the conversation.
