Other FWB and Diana "Universal"

The "U" can be changed to more specialized 10 meter versions like the FWB RT, Diana K or HV, or kept standard match as here, a 300SU and Diana 75U.
The dovetail accepts diopter, riser, scope, front sight is easy to remove, stock configuration and front stippling resembles the running target versions.
I believe the action is the same as any other 300S or D75, they are easier to find than the RT or K, and AFAIK there is no other spring piston Universal?

the Diana K are just about impossible to find and yes your stock and the K are the same except the butt pad is wood on the K
and they have a longer dovetail about twice and they have the Tootsie Roll barrel weight
not my rifle just saved picture

Very cool tool…and the reticles in those running target scopes are neat. John

Wow those are a couple of classic beauties! The "U's" were definitely a great idea, I'm sure non-millionaire buyers appreciated being able to configure one of those fine rifles for more than one specialty.

Running Target rules in springer days required one minor internal change to a standard 10-meter offhand setup: a single-stage snap-trigger with a relatively heavy pull weight. This is fairly easy to do on the FWB - swap out the trigger carrier and add a tiny spring - but I don't know how this was done on the Diana.

RT is an interesting discipline. A match is 60 shots, fired at a target moving horizontally across a 2-meter-wide space 10 meters away; 30 at slow speed (target exposed for 5 seconds) and 30 fast (2.5 seconds). Fast and slow can come in any order, and start from either side. The shooter starts with the gun down; the slick wood buttplate keeps it from sticking as you bring it up to the shoulder. The scope is 4x power max and has parallel reticles - you adjust the space between them to generate required lead.
