I just got an FWB 65. The first shot with an 8-grain pellet was 394 fps. That sounded Ok for a used air pistol. I was expecting something like 410 fps. Then, velocities went from 250 fps to 300 fps over a 12-shot string, even with a 7 grain Hobby pellets. The velocities did settle to about 290 -300 fps near the end of the test. I'm not sure what happened. Do you have any ideas?

Broken spring? They run completely dry except for the spring. Perhaps someone rebuilt it and lubed the piston? The factory just burnishes a little dry moly on the piston and ring. I have never seen a broken ring on one. Could the internal buffer be falling apart? You can stick a small precision screwdriver in the transfer port to see it’s turned to mush.

It may be a broken spring. I just shot it, and first shot jumped to 324 fps, and then the second shot was 274 fps. Looks like a job for David Slade.

Send to David Slade. I just had a FWB 150 rifle delivered to him and he replied that it would take 3-4 weeks. Be prepared to spend around $250 to have it restored to excellent working condition. He reworked two FWB 65s for me last year.

a FWB 65 should shoot in the high 4's to a little over 500 FPS
the internal buffer will not hurt FPS but the breech seal could so what is the color of the cone breech seal
and the piston seal is metal like a car piston for sealing now if the pistol was rebuilt by someone that over lubed the cylinder that could not help
