FX 30 cal Hybrid will not fit in FX magazine.

I just received my 30 cal Hybrid slugs the other day. I tried shooting them today and found out that they won't fit in the Impact magazine.

The top picture is with the factory magazine. I can load them up and get them into the gun but the magazine would not always index with them. The bottom picture is with the Sideshot magazine. I could not load a fully loaded magazine into the gun because it was too wide.

Has anyone else had these issues?

The .30 Cal 44.5 gr Hybrids will only fit the FX Side Shot mags...they will not fit the original Side Shot or factory 'normal' capacity magazines.

The slot that is milled into the top plate of the FX Side Shot mag accounts for the additional length that can be loaded into the magazine with reliable function.

The FX Side Shot mag can accommodate a slug up to .432" in length but in my extensive testing of various lengths the most reliable length for zero feeding issues is .425".

We have been running the .30 Cal 44.5 gr Hybrids between .418" - .422" just to be safe and to ensure customers do not have any feeding issues.

I batch test every barrel prior to packaging and I have not experienced any feeding issues at all.

Hope that helps answer any questions you guys may have 🍻

The FX MkII mags have been out for over a year and is what ships with an Impact...it's been that way for a long time as far as I know. The easiest way to tell what mag you have is to just look at the clear cover - the MkII mags have a slot milled into it.

The original aluminum Side Shot I have in .30 Cal will not fit the Hybrids but that mag is over two years old & they may have made design changes to it since then.

I don't know about the Crown or Wildcat mags - I don't have either one of those.

When the .30 Cal 39.5 gr Hybrid is released it will fit the original mags. It was designed for lower powered or short barreled Airguns so the velocity can still be very high.

Ok now I am confused. On Utah Air website under the "New" FX MKII side-shot magazine it say *IF YOU ARE SHOOTING SLUGS OR HEAVY PELLETS WE WOULD RECCOMEND THE ORIGINAL SIDE-SHOT ALUMINUM MAG. LINK BELOW. That doesn't match up with what Rat Sniper said earlier on this post. So what is it I wonder????

I believe this is because the new magazine's, molded of plastic, are a larger diameter and allow the slugs to shift and flip due to slug shape versus pellet shape. UA exchanged mine last year because of the issue and now advertise the correct magazine to purchase. It may have been resolved by FX by now too, but who knows. The end user (knowing what he or she intends to shoot for ammo) out of the Impacts should buy accordingly, but new user's are probably going to be buying blind.
