FX FX .35 Cal Dynamic express 700 tune

I recently bought a .35 cal FX dynamic express. I'm curious about the tuning. Presently the gun has the following settings:

Reg 120
Wheel 23
micro 2.5
JSB 81.02 pellet
average 859 fps, ES 22.8, SD 7.3
at 25 yards shoots same hole.
What settings would better the performance ? What FPS should I strive for, I thought it would be closer to 900 +

Good morning! Honestly, I wouldn’t look at 25yds. Even the worst of tuned guns can one hole at 25yds. I would shoot at least at 50yds.

There are several schools of thought for tuning, but it really comes down to what your particular gun likes and wants to be at.

One way you can find out is this. Max your micro out and leave your macro at 23. Now turn your reg up to 150 and shoot a few shots over the chrono to settle it out and see if that reg setting gets you up to high 900’s, say like 980ish. If not, adjust the reg up or down to get you there.

Once you have that setting, start shooting 3-5 shot groups. After each group, record your reg pressure and the speed. You will be shooting 3-5 shot groups as you are coming down off the reg pressure. It will obviously be decreasing as you continue to shoot the groups. Once you have shot down to where your speed is lower than you would want to shoot, say 825, for example, you can stop shooting. Make sure your groups are numbered in a way that you will know what reg pressure and speed goes with what group.

From there, you can measure or observe which groups were the tightest. Use the corresponding reg and speed for that group and you can begin to further fine tune by setting the reg pressure and adjusting the micro to get that desired speed and accuracy tighter. You may have several potential good reg pressures and speeds to choose from.

Hope this makes sense.

thanks, I agree that 50 yards is far better. I'll try that later this week. What I did so far ( after YouTube views ) is this: I turned the large wheel ( macro) to 13, the micro to 3.0 , left the regulator at 125. I obtained: 914.7 fps, ES 9.0 and SD of 3.1. That's with the same JSB 81.02 gr pellet. The search goes on. They offered to tune the gun for me for a fee, but I decided I'm save the cash, buy more ammo and learn how to do this myself. I'll change from pellets to slugs anyway so sooner or later I'll need to know how. This airgun world is very different. I come from the cenetrfire long range world and load my own. So tuning a load to a gun is well understood, with the airgun it seems we tune the gun to the load. Interesting.
