Tuning FX-400 Royal

I prefer the wood or laminate stocks and CF bottle but if you can get one for a good price I say go for it I love mine! Seen here with a couple small upgrades :)

If you have a chance to get one at a great price JUMP ON IT! You won't regret it.

Agree. The Royale/Boss platform is the best thing FX has ever made, and the only one I own, and likely will ever own.

One indication is the classifieds look how many Royale/Boss guns come up for sale versus the newer guns which seem to be listed constantly that has to tell you something. These models have been out or a while now and you just don't see guys letting then go that often for a reason.

I think Fredrik realized his original platform was the very embodiment of something very simple, that worked very well. That leaves little room for the kind of accessories that have driven up sales volume and profit margins. And for the typical current FX customer, that's great. I can tell from reading many of the threads, many folks enjoy a day at the range tinkering with different liners, different reg settings and spring tension adjustments. But for the owner who likes to just load up the gear and go shooting or hunting, without the need for any tools or cleaning equipment, having confidence the rifle is going to have the same POI as the last trip, the current models cannot compare.

Word! That is 100% true. Great the FX has been able to address both types of shooters those that just want simple reliability without a lot of effort and those that want to tinker and adjust the rifles for different shooting situations. I also have Classic Dreamline so I can see both sides of it each suit a purpose and while the DL is great a "swiss army knife" approach can't really compare with a fine steak knife perfected to do just one thing incredibly well. My 400 came used with BOTH an ST and a WL .22 barresl so I have a little more flexibility then most.

Not only do you rarely see Royale/ Boss/ Bocat platform guns for sale, it's just as rare to see posts about problems or inaccuracy! I am blown away by the number of posts about Impact or Maverick problems. I just can't relate AT ALL! My guns do EVERYTHING they're supposed to EVERY time I pull 'em out of their cases. Insanely accurate, dependable, trouble free. The rarity of these guns for sale & rarity of negative posts speaks VOLUMES about how good they are. I've probably reiterated these feelings & opinions 100 times in the last few years. Only we owners know their true value (& I'm not just talking money!) I'll NEVER sell mine as long as I'm physically able to shoot!

@elh0102, it's obvious you & I are of the same heart, mind & opinion when it comes to our Royales! If someone offered me a new Impact or Mav for my Royale or Boss I swear to God I WOULD NOT do it! They are such an "extension" of me it'd be like cutting off an arm or leg. I've gotten to shoot many different types of higher end guns but I prefer mine. They're strictly business (if you know what I mean). I EASILY get dime sized groups at 50 without breaking a sweat. There's been a number of times I've gone to check zero on my Boss & the first few shots went through THE SAME HOLE! Had witnesses too. Okay, I'm stepping down from my soapbox now.

Well got my hopes up, but gun sold while I contemplated. Should have pulled the trigger right away.

This isn't meant as an "I told you so", but, these rifles are not easy to find in this age of gadgetry, and they don't stay on the market long. Sorry you missed it. A new one can be special ordered, but no idea on delivery time. Keep watching the classified, maybe you will luck onto one before long.

If you can afford to buy new I would contact Utah Air to see how long it might take to special order one. It's in .25 (500 Model) but this one may still be available. https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/wts-fx-royale-25-3/ I have both and while the 400 is a little easier to handle the 500 is still great. Good luck!
