FX Atomic / JSB Hades .177

Pulled out a fresh tin of FX Atomic pellets for my favorite .177 yesterday and noticed they were not as accurate as I remember the Hades to be. Well, I ran a number of the Atomic pellets through my sizing dies to get a feel for their dimensions and found them all to be right at .177 / 4.50 mm. Nice and consistent but a bit small for the bore of my Nova Liberty (4.52). Anyone else notice this sizing and accuracy issue with the Atomic / Hades pellets?

I can’t speak to the .177 Hades / Atomics in particular but my experience has been that JSB pellets are usually anywhere from a couple hundredths of a mm under (0.02mm or 0.0005in) to spot on the caliber. Seldom over, at least in .177 and .22. How they manage to group so well from so many different barrels, even unchoked ones, has always seemed to run against the conventional wisdom.

Try pushing a couple through the barrel and inspect the heads with the aid of magnification. If there is any engraving whatsoever, the issue is less likely to be related to head size as much as it is more general differences between batches.
