FX FX Bobcat MK1 stock swap

I found this stock for sale and jumped on it. Apparently a pre- production stock for the Bobcat. I am amazed how much different the gun feels in my hands. Personally, I like the look. I’m going to shorten up the fill port and that’s it. Before and after pics. What do you think?

Pretty cool but doesn't appear to have the barrel support like the original though. I've gotten to love how mine shoulders & feels (no matter how fugly) but I can see the appeal of the prototype. Heavier? Lighter?

Absolutely lighter. I will weigh new set up tonight. Obviously, the air tank is not locked into the stock like the original. I shoot mostly bench anyways so that does not bother me. I will install a barrel band tonight.

Imho it's a shame FX stopped making the Bobcat. So many newer guns look like they've "stolen" that design now. FX was just too far ahead of the curve when they released it. I think it would appeal to more people now, but what do I know? They are GREAT shooting guns no matter the aesthetics.

I had the MK 1 with the original Smooth Twist barrel. Great guns! Never should have sold that one.

I'm wondering if a barrel band from the wildcat would fit on this set up. I'm going to measure shroud and tank.

With the Bobcat, if you want to lower the accuracy of the gun go ahead and install a barrel band. They are definitely not necessary and in fact will hinder your accuracy and precision.

Listen to the comments above by Centercut! "My" Bobcat was originally his & functions the way it does (incredibly) because of Mike's setting it up.

Maybe a Velcro strap to secure air tube to stock forend?

I like your thinking. I purchased some heavy duty Velcro strips which I'm going to attach to stock and bottom of tank.
