FX carbon fiber air bottles

Carbon fiber..? Seems that they are much more aluminum than carbon fiber to me.

Some brands go the other way and use more carbon fiber thickness, vs. aluminum than FX does. When I hefted my new little 300cc FX bottle, it is much heavier than I figures it would be from handling some similar sized bottles for spacecraft, while at work.

Makes me wonder what other air gun manufacturers are doing. Thicker aluminum or thicker carbon fiber ?

may I ask how much those carbon bottles for space craft your work cost?

Sure...you may ask what the air bottles that most spacecraft use will cost.

Not being privy to that end of the company, I cannot tell you what they cost. I' worked in the Engineering end of things, not the Purchasing, or Quality end of the company.

BUT...I do know that as with most everything that is manufactured by human hands, the "setup", in this case to the carbon fiber filament winding and or carbon fiber sheet wrapping, the... initial setup in the particular machine is the most expensive part of the operation. If one wrap is used or 1000 wraps are used, the...setup...is the most expensive. This was born out in the fact that years ago, I got to witness the building of a carbon fiber drive shaft for race cars, Drag Racing in this particular case. My previous comments came from this field trip, the folks doing the wrapping, made the comments to that effect.
