FX carbon sleeve not tight?!

Im installing a carbon sleeve on the DRS. Its the same "setup" as on Panthera and other FX

Im doing it to eliminate POI and to stiffen the liner/barrel system.

But look here at the video
There is slack. The sleeve kan move from side to side inside the tube/barrel. Its not the liner that moves inside the sleeve (its a tight fit) - its the sleeve that moves inside the tube/barrel

Should I eliminate that and how do I do that?

I thought one of the whole points of the drs with the air tube over the barrel was to stiffen it? if that's not happening then what's the point in the drs other than a different look.

There is no pressure inside the tube/barrel that holds the liner. Pressure is on the out side of the tube/barrel.

I don't believe the carbon sleeve moving within your shroud will pose any issues. If it is something of concern you can always try wrapping the carbon sleeve with a teflon plummer's tape to take up whatever slack and movement. A little trick Ernest Rowe would use when a carbon sleeve and barrel liner didn't fit as tight as he wanted.

I mean it's not great.... Yes the jam nut holds the liner in the steel sleeve. But lack of fitment means all kinds of weird vibrations.

The problem was the jam nut was too loose from factory - so the liner rotated around it self. Its now tightened and the DRS shoots hole in hole. The play in the sleeve does not have impact on precision.

Are we talking a thousandth or a business card of slop. Mine slid in but when everything is under tension it's a non issue on a 700mm

I have several in different Cals and liners and barrel housings and all of them are a snug interference fit. I think its just the nature of getting a supply of cheap CF tubing from over seas, there is a degree of variance. I can say if mine were loose or just taking up space they are pointless; and my first CF sleeve would be my last. But some of them were actually kinda tight and took some effort to slide into the housing or the liners into the CF sleeve. Just a guys opinion, but to me that means they are working the way I want them to.

I'm sure you're right. Mine isn't loose, but it isn't so snug you have to beat it in either. I think that is what some people think it's supposed to be. It really just keeps the barrel from flexing as much by taking up space.

The liner is captured and not rattling around when properly installed anyhow. I mean fx thought orings were appropriate enough oem. Mine slid in, didn't rattle but wasn't press fit. It's less of an issue that pre m4 top strap and rail slop if you disassemble the gun to install a spring or hammer. Imho
