FX Chronograph V1 vs V2

First post on these forums. Don't know how I missed the existence of Airgunnation after all these years.

I've searched these forums and online for my query but did not find the info I'm looking for.

Anyways, looking for a smaller replacement for my more traditional two post chronograph and looking at the FX Chronograph V1 vs V2.

I don't mind the larger size of the V1 versus V2 or changing batteries and my pellets are never going to exceed 1000fps, I don't think.

Q: Is there a reason to get the V2 anyways or just save the $ and get a used V1? I've read numerous posts about the V1 not picking up .177 pellets. I do shoot .22 most of the time. The V1 will already be a whole lot smaller than my current unit and it seems that both will give me the same data. Am I missing something?

Wish I could answer your questions...I do have a used V1 coming in maybe tomorrow as I wanted a smaller more portable chronograph than my ProChrono like you. The ProChrono works flawlessly though.

I have the FX V1 and a Caldwell two post chronograph. The caldwell is a PITA sometimes but it is much more consistent than the FX. Works well to calculate BC.

The FX is about the same purchase age and it shows it age. Very finicky and inconsistent results now. Good luck with .177 pellets.

I purchased a Garmin Chronograph but have not tried it yet. Seems like the only one on the market that works as advertised.

Thanks! I only shoot .22 so should be good to go. My friend has the V1 and no issues with .22 ammo .

I have a Chrony, the V1 and a LabRadar.

All three pretty much agree velocity wise.

The Chrony has the usual screen alignment issues but works well in the house.

The other two are Radar units and work well when there's not a lot of clutter around.

I'd get the V2.

Every thread such as this I read many posts about fx inconsistency. I have one and it rarely misses a shot. I did have a very brief problem after an app update getting it to connect to my phone but it was short lived. Only 177 I have is a break barrel but the couple times I used it with that it was great as well. Haven’t used my Caldwell in a couple years and would never pay the price of the garmin.

I have had a V1 for a long time and while it had a few glitches initially, with the updates, they have disappeared.
Also, instead of using the standard batteries, I opted for a separate rechargeable battery due to the FX using a lot of juice it seems.
Other than that, it has been a really good investment to date.
I might imagine that the V2 is slightly better however, I have not used or know of anyone that has one personally.

My V1 has always worked for .177, .22 and .25. Every once in awhile it will miss a shot, like all chronos. I’ve only used it outside.

So it seems that this is a case by case basis - depending on one's unit.
