This a part 2 of my FX Crown zeroing out to 100 yards. It was tough to shoot in the wind the previous day so I woke up early and got to the field at 5am to beat the wind. My wife called me crazy but I called it dedication, lol.

I was shooting well with the Baracuda 18 out to 70 yards and then had trouble keeping a tight group beyond that especially at 100 yards. The tin I was using had some damage skirt, so that might be a contribution to the bad groupings. I then switched to my AA 18gr that I had in my possession and after seasoning the barrel with it, I was able to get a decent group. I came close to a sub MOA with one group where 4 shots were less than 3/4" and the last shot ruined it and shot low.

It was a fun and productive day of plinking.
Enjoy and thanks for watching.

Why are you blurring out the logo on your jacket?

@davit66. Thank you and yes very privilege to get this beautiful permission with an awesome farmer who really likes my tools and my videos, lol. Ya, lots of work to tune and chase that sub MOA again. I have done it a few times in the past and it is just a matter of time (when all the stars aligned, lol) before I can have decent groupings again. I think shooting a lot of rats at night and up to 50 yards only had me developed bad habits and lack of concentration that I would otherwise need for long range shooting at starlings. But that is the challenge, right? To be able to adapt and adjust for what ever tasks at hand. More videos to follow with rats and starlings, stay tuned and thank you for your support.

If you want to shoot smaller groups you need wind flags. The wind meter won’t tell you what you need to know. At approximately 12:05 in the video I see something on your bench being moved by wind. That’s all it takes to throw a shot at 100 yards. Wind flags every 20 yards or so would show what’s happening down range. Good luck and good shooting.

@F-classmike. I agree. Having one wind flag at the target definitely not enough to gauge the wind direction and strength. That is the challenge we have as an Airgunner. Reading the correct wind drift is a 50/50 chance IMO. For target shooting we can "cheat" by placing wind flags, but for shooting pests in the field we can only rely on estimating/guessing what the wind drift would be. So half of the time, I was guessing wrong. To be honest, sometimes I wonder how I could hit any targets at all, lol. Too many factors to alter the path of the pellet/slug at any given shots such as reading the wind drift, execution of the shot, accuracy of the gun etc. Anyway, frustrating as that can be to deal with, I still enjoy my time behind the trigger. Cheers.
