FX FX Crown GRS Continuum Standing Position

Last night Standing, 3 shots , first was a 10, then followed y 2 x's. Then realized needed to adjust the trigger, maybe more loktite.
Maybe the Boss first blade screw moved a bit. Or the mechanism is getting broken in after 100 to 200 shots fired, screw to anodize surface interface?
Still learning and new experiences. Also fully understood that I will have a bad night sooner or later. 20230826_191029 - Copy.jpg

I just bought an FX Crown recently and wanted to see what others were doing with them. Your shooting and setup are impressive! I need to get a scope on mine. I was going to steal the one from my P70 FT rifle and thought I might try to find a way to lighten that one up (13 lbs!). Maybe the weight isn’t the problem I thought it was for carting that thing around on an FT course though.

One question that I think I can take a stab at is about your downrange camera idea. I have read that 2.4GHz WiFi is good for about 100 yards outdoors. There are battery powered WiFi security cameras available that communicate on that frequency. I don’t have a specific one in mind. Arlo is popular but I’m not sure if that would be the best one to use. Another option might be to use a security camera that doesn’t have a battery but is considered “wireless” even though they need to be plugged in. Since they use a little transformer or switching power supply they could be powered by a small battery pack that puts out sufficient power. It’s possible that at 200 yards you might need to add a WiFi repeater/extender into the system. Yet another option might be to use a game camera. Some of those can send an image through the cellular network. I’m not sure if they do a live view though.

Hold on, I need to find it, but there is a youtube on drone cameas, and all available on amazon, the guy has his set up at very long distances, the set up is very affordable. and plug and play easy.
Here it is,

That’s a good option! The drone cameras I have used didn’t have very good resolution but they’re probably better now. People have been flying long range RC fixed wing and quadcopters by FPV for a long time. That used to be done at much lower frequencies. DJI has some technology in their drones that can really reach out many miles. Maybe that has trickled into the rest of that industry.

The Feinwerkbau P70 is a ISSF Standing Olympic gun by design, and was adapted for FT. A true ISSF Air Rifle is 5.5 kg , 12 pd 1 ounce or less.
Lighter rifles are bouncier, so the 10 , 11 , 12 pound ISSF rifles are made at this weight with purpose/application in mind.
A solid week, or two weeks of training in the standing position, and most every one is fine with this weight.
Look at some of the youtube, pictures of ISSF air rifle events, in the women's category, some gals are 80 to 90 pounds body weight, and have weighted 12 pound rifles and do very well. Meaning the FWB 800 is 10.5 pounds and they have added weight to get to 12 pounds.
I would recommend to train with your 13 pound rifle. Remember, you rest the rifle on a tripod pad , in between shots.

Did the redrilled/repositioned 90 de20230826_184906 - Copy.jpggrees, the spotting scope so its on my right side, easy to look thru now.

I didn't realize (or look for info) that the ISSF rifles were so heavy. It makes sense. I've got a big Sightron scope on the P70 FT that might be overkill. I have only tried FT once and it was with that rifle. I signed up for the open class since I thought that sounded like a good challenge. Only short seats and no sticks allowed in that one. They paired us up and fortunately my partner offered space in his wheeled cart so that I didn't have to carry the rifle the whole time. I'm in okay shape but my other activities seem at odds with target shooting sometimes - dirt biking and mountain biking are fatiguing on everything!

If that's what you're using for a spotting scope, all you need for downrange imaging is a little astro imaging or guide camera! You could set up an off-axis system on the scope and still have the ability to look through the eyepiece if you want to. Maybe there's a use for my old achromatic refractor yet. 😂

Got the Boss trigger to a really good adjustment. Using the JSB mrd 25.4 pellet at 980 fps, no more flyers as when I was using the JSB 25.4 slugs in the 1:24 twist pellet barrel. Able to call all the shots, with not any surprises at all. Definitely figuring this out.
The plan is to get the heavy slug liner 1:16 and get back to 100 yards, with JSB 25.4 slug and HN 27 gr slug. All with 700 barrel.

Got a few of these 3.5 oz weights for muzzle barrel, coming,https://www.homedepot.com/p/Climax-...ated-Mild-Steel-Clamp-Collar-1C-112/203024918

Things may change for the better by the end of this week, new 700mm barrel 1:16 twist coming, still think am down 10 points due to flyers. Still is a good evening.
Just a thought, will a slower spin due to a low twist 1:24 barrel, be easier to throw off course while Standing or other position?, As compared to a quicker twist 1:16, more stable coming out of the barrel, and thus less prone for last micro second contact movement?? Will find out soon.20230903_205802 - Copy.jpg20230903_210210 - Copy.jpg20230903_203603.jpg

Got back to shooting 100 yds Standing, the first shot was the 5 oclock 7, then I adjusted sights, and almost all went better, I own the other 8.
140 bar, wheel pos 21, 930 fps, HN 27 grn slug, heavy barrel 1:16 twist with carbon sleeve.
Shot right to left, it usually takes me a while to warm up, settle in to get steady, left is appprox 94% not counting the 1st shot.20230915_195742 - Copy.jpg20230915_192714.jpg
