FX FX Crown GRS Continuum Standing Position

4 of these at medium setting, = 4 x 1000 lumens, 6 hour run time.

First shot being off is likely air creeping past the regulator. The first couple shots resets the pressure in the plenum.

I have an FX Crown GRS Continuum myself, but my only offhand experience was a few shots during a field target match. I wouldn’t know how to answer any of your questions and it seems you’re well ahead of anyone else’s learning curve by now.

Got the chronograph Vikka, am at 870 feet per second, with a 25.4 knockout slug, 120 Bar, power wheel distance of 20.0mm and at #13.
Benching it, was x ring perfect, but when standing, it groups low left, yellow circle,
So shoot for group and move sights. It takes me a few shots to get warmed up, at bull 3, I was really doing well, so I moved sights again.
All concluding, sight adjustment needs to be done from bench to Standing, but must be able to group well Standing to be able to adjust sights for Standing.View attachment 363639If it is possible to say this group difference is due to the different recoil absorption from Bench to Standing and the slow slug velocity, longer time in 700mm barrel...? With the Vikka , was at 11 pds 4 oz.
It is a known problem for right handed shooters to pull shots down and to the left because of intrinsic muscles involved during trigger pull. I am assuming your right handed.

Got my first chance to shoot in the rain with AR , already had the targets set up and was starting first shots. Then the heavy rain started, hung in there and finished, it was fun, something different. I do have a metal roof overhead of firing position. The rain did not seem to affectView attachment 371473 the shots.
I havent found the rain to have any affect, but then again I'm not reaching out that far.

Am sticking with the 380 mm barrel, it has much less recoil than the 700 mm. Faithfully practicing every evening, with good results being seen.
One item to address is the occasional infrequent flyer shot, More often at the beginning, and this has been reduced by a few slugs shot as warm up shots.
However last nights 4th record shot was a 7, and the 18th shot was a 6, this was not me, as I have become very good at seeing and calling the shot.
Searching the youtubes and here, and seeing the silicone grease useage, and the hammer spring shuttle situation.
Need to get the chronograph back on, but removed it as it was so darn consistent. So if my fps is consistent, questioning, where the issue is, all I am thinking is Pellet variation...? Or blame myself...? 755 fps to 764 fps range with 25.4 slug, 130 bar, Will try some HN 27 grain slugs.

Will try to make this short. Benchrest is sighted in for direct hit, 10x ring. Things change when I shoot Standing, am using a 20x scope , so I occasionally see it all happen. When trigger is released, the muzzle goes up approx 1 to 2 o'clock, then drops back down to 7 or 8 o'clock. My actual shot grouping is at 7 to 8 o'clock. So I am concluding that the slug is in the barrel until the barrel is in the downward movement. Am trying to shoot as low velocity as possible to get this task done, thus keeping this muzzle movement to its minimum. And at the same time, weighting the rifle , to also limit this muzzle movement as much as possible. This last test proved of adding 1 pound to be a big game changer, the 2 tight 8 oclock shots near the ten were perfectly executed. I would like to add this weight up front in a better manner.View attachment 363274View attachment 363275
maybe temporary to play with the weight would be lead wire (plumber solder ,about a 1/4 inch dia. ) so you cam move weight closer or farther on the barrel ??

Since the beginning, Have always had an infrequent flyer shot, and finally took the barrel shroud off, the spacer380/spacers700 were not in the correct location. The 700 all 3 were stuck together in the middle of barrel, the 380 single spacer never made it past the end threads, so barrel was completely unsupported. Fixed the situation, and benched it, and very glad to say, no more flyers. My sons target at bench, the 2 eights were his learning the light trigger.
This spacer situation may also explain my shot group variation between Bench and Standing, which I could count on being 7 inches difference. Sighted it in for Standing(difficult), and when I bench rested it, the group would be in the 5 and 6 ring at 3 o'clock.
Out of curiosity, does anyone have any experience shooting unshrouded, unsupported barrels and how they behave?
So if anyone is having , any way out flyer shots, please check your spacers. ThBrianBenchRestafterBarrelfixspacer.jpgis all makes perfect sense as the chrono #'s were all very good.

Learned from a thread here, "weird crown shots". that my wild shots maybe from low velocity , velocity , rotation rpm ratio.
So now am at 140 Bar, 930 fps, 25.4 jsb slug. 700 mm barrel stx superlight 24:1 twist, yes it is pellet barrel, and will get some jsb 25 pellets soon.
So am at high setting for hammer spring internal adjust. Position 18 for rainbow spot.
150 bar does 955 fps at 21 , 22 wheel position.
Am doing Standing , so any better than 1 moa works well for me.
So do to this higher hammer spring setting for the higher pressures, my light stock trigger setting for 110 bar and 130 bar could not hold the sear. Perfect time for the Boss trigger kit install
and very pleased with the results. The Boss trigger is still light and holds well at higher bar pressure 140, and 150 bar.
Dremel work is fun!

A few recent changes, includes indexing the 700 stx 24:1 twist barrel, Jsb 24.5 slug, 140 bar, 980 fps, Boss trigger install.
Am not seeing anymore wild flyers that I can complain about.
HN 21 and HN 23 slugs, JSB 25.4 mrd pellets, coming today, so will see what the 24:1 twist barrel will do with the proper lead.
Very possible order for stx 700 heavy 18:1, if choosing to shoot HN 27 slug.
As of now, very good feel for calling every Standing and bench shot, not any weird ones happening. If I can get a tighter group in the future , all the better!
One pic is Bench after indexing barrel, sight move was 40 up, then 8 down20230821_072655 - Copy.jpg20230822_065058 - Copy.jpg, one pic is last nights Standing.
Will take some time to get used to the Boss trigger, but very pleased with the install swap.

Needed to get a sense of reality again, so pulled back to 50 yards for good grouping check, Standing position with JSB MRD 25.4. Proving no flyers at 50yards. Some times shooting is surprising.5 shots per bull.
More trials to come with hn 21 and 23 slugs, most likely a 700 18:1 twist barrel coming for the heavier slugs, 27 grain.20230823_202547.jpg20230824_203348.jpg

Hi All, I am eagerly waiting for the arrival of a FX Crown GRS Continuum, 380, 700 barrel. My goal is to use it Standing at 200 yards, with the 700 and slugs. Have a life time of experience in ISSF 10 meter Air rifle , and Smallbore 3 position. I may want to do a modification on fore end, for sling attachment point for prone , kneeling, all in good time. I am eager to learn about this long distance air rifle , and what it will take to make my goals happen. One question would be , Is there any other position shooter doing this with a gun of this type?
There are so many good benefits to using "Air" for this sport. Finding or starting a loosely organized Air group in this discipline would be great, in Central NH. Future 200 yd pic.View attachment 357852
Well beyond my skills, was well impressed with Mr. Quiggleys bucket shot đź‘Ť
