FX FX CROWN MK II SABER TACTICAL CHASSIS FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Took the Crown Mk II Saber Tactical Chassis in .30 Bin at the Pellet Shop prepped and shipped to me this week out to sight it in on my home range. Started at 25 yds to get the windage set first (that’s how we did it in the firearm competition world with a new rifle/scope combo, get the windage as exact as possible at a short range where the holes are easy to see and then all you need to do to go out to 100, 200, 300+ is click up the elevation knob and fine tune the elevation as necessary.)

Surprisingly it took only five shots to get it reasonably centered and a couple more to fine tune enough where I was comfortable enough to get more serious. moved out to 100 and 125 which is my maximum distance to a target at a measured distance on the home range and set up on my friendly neighbor’s shore protection with the lake behind it as a ‘backstop.’ Just a mild albeit varying breeze.

It only took one mag to adjust the elevation to where they were grouping in a nice cluster at 100 and one more to start getting some all touching groups with the outliers damn close to the rest.

I am very impressed with this rifle. Handles and groups very much like my RAW HM1000 X Chassis Rifle in .25 and seems to be fairly close in accuracy at the same distance and conditions. Of course I can’t say for sure until I get more trigger time in on the FX and then spend a day with both rifles in the same conditions. I also then want to see which one will perform the best when I stretch out to see how they will go with some degree of accuracy. The available range I use goes out to 500yds but I know that ain’t gonna be in the cards.

Will be very interred in seeing what differences show up, if any, between the .25 and the .30. That will be even more interesting when I add my other new long range acquisition to the test group when I get finished getting that one set up — Airmaks Katran HP .25 with a 700 mm barrel.

Semi-retirement sure is fun!

Nice write-up on your Saber Tactical chassis Crown MK2. They are sweet rifles for sure. Mine are in .22 and .177 and are my two favorite rifles. Are you shooting pellets in your .30?
Kenny
Just pellets at this point . Haven’t tried slugs in the Crown yet. I want to break it in with pellets first. The Katran X HB LONG 25 and the RAW .25 both seem to like Nielsen Specialty slugs however. David
