FX Crown MK2 ?

Hi Folks
This is my first post.
I am looking at buying a very good condition FX Crown Mk2. .22 The advert says Mk2 but I am a bit suspicious.
The engraving on the body does not say MK2. I believe it may be a "compact" version.
It has the black gauges and the later barrel removal screws on the side as opposed to the top and the picatinny rails.
I read somewhere online that there may have been an in between Mk1 and Mk2 model, Gen 2 that has some of the Mk2 mods but not all.
Some had the larger plenum and some did not. It would be nice to know before parting with the cash.
I would rather buy a new Mk2 than an older model if that makes sense.
Can any of the FX gurus throw any light on this? Is it possible to check using the serial number?

My advice would be to save a few more and buy off a reputable seller, wether used or new. I bought a used Impact MK2, the seller told me it was in top notch condition and after a couple of tins of shooting it started to crumble, the rifle was far from ”top notch” condition! I had to replace parts on it and finally got it to shoot well after investing a considerable amount of money which I could have saved and bought an M3 new.

Yes, all mk2 have larger plenums, larger valves, and pic rails for scopes. They also have 4 screws that hold the barrel, but the gen2 had those also before the other additions like larger plenum and valve were added.

So my suspicions may be correct. The gun may not be a full Mk2 but in fact a Mk1 gen2..

Still great guns but doesn’t have the same power but if you don’t need the power for pellets then still Great guns.

Good God you won’t Believe the accuracy out to at Least 50 yds. Just a blast! It WILL shoot well farther than that I just haven‘t cooked up a tune for that yet.

Not all of them. FX used up a lot of transitional wheels well into the MK2 production. To be most assured, contact FX and give them your serial number. They should clarify the issue.

Mine came with a 600 mm barrel. I hated it because the gun was so long, so I bought and installed a 380 mm barrel. At one point, it was shooting 980 fps, so I tuned it down to improve the shot count and accuracy. It now shoots between 883 and 905 fps with JSB 18.1 gr pellets depending on the HS setting. This thing is a joy to shoot.

I've never seen a mk2 that didn't say mk2 on it. I have a gen 3 mk1 (as I understand it). For .22 cal, you really dont need much more. In fact I actually prefer the mk1 for .22 cal. .25 and up, mk2 is where it's at.

Reason I say mk1 is ideal for .22 is because the valve is the same size as the .22 cal bore. It's not over-valved. Also, the mk1 is quite powerful as is. 380mm barrel easily yields 32fpe with pellets @130bar reg pressure. Same tune with port and hammer wheels on minimum adjustments yields 16fpe. Still plenty of power for most pests, and tons of fun for plinking. Still pinpoint accurate. If you want to shoot slugs, mk2 is better suited, but mine still does 50fpe in 500mm barrel @ 150bar with a 7gm hammer weight. 25gr @950fps. Of course all my probes and barrels are hand ported, so that helps some. To be precise +50fps with 18gr in 380mm barrel. With no changes done to tune or settings from factory. Just porting.

I found this one for sale used, at Utah Airguns.
It's a .30cal, with the nicest glass I have ever looked through.
My home range is 72 yards max at the moment.

I learned something here. Mine is the transision gun, and not the Mk2. When I shopping, I was just making sure of a pic rail, and side screw barrel mounting

I can always trade it in later and upgrade. It's a .22 so probably plenty of power for target plinking.
I don't think it will be a hunting piece except for rats and pigeons.

If in that nice a shape Just Go For It... you're gonna' love it

At it's "regular Mid-Level performance" it is just so pleasant to shoot and accuracy is superb. Unless Chasing Heavy-Projectile / Extra-Long Distance performance You will likely Never Even "Ask" more from this gun than it "Could Give You" if it were all cranked-up for highest power.

Mine is a crazy good rifle. Its quiet and smooth actually my quietest rifle. Its shooting 44.75 gr JSB's at an average of 879 fps. The loudest report comes from the pellet impact.
My only real loss in having a Gen 2, is the. 0 moa pic rail, but my gun came with adjustable rings allready set.
I've been calling it a Mk2, but now I don't know what to call it? "Compact" doesn't work, because fx still sells a crown compact, labled Mk2. So
I guess ill call it a Gen2.it wasn't very compact, it came with a 600mm barrel. Lol
