So I got a new Omega trail charger (compressor) and went out back to plink with my FX Crown MKII (purchased used from another user). I also bought a CF barrel sleeve and printed the sleeve/shroud spacers.
At first I was just hitting an old log. But eventually decided to get the chronograph out.
The wind is pretty nasty today, 11 mph gusting to 25 mph per wind forecast, but it seemed even worse than that.
Despite the wind, I was impressed with the chrony shot strings.
Each string was 5 shots.
String 1: High: 914, Low: 912, Average: 913, Spread: 2.0, Std. Dev.: 1.0
String 2: High: 916, Low: 909, Average: 913, Spread: 7.0, Std. Dev.: 2.4
String 3: High: 916, Low: 912, Average: 913, Spread: 4.0, Std. Dev.: 1.6
String 4: High: 914, Low: 907, Average: 912, Spread: 7.0, Std. Dev.: 2.6
String 5: High: 914, Low: 907, Average: 911, Spread: 7.0, Std. Dev.: 2.5
Overall 907-916 fps seems pretty good with out of the tin pellets (Exact King Diabolo 225.39 grain pellets) from a magazine.
Again despite the wind, I got a target sheet out. Shots at 25 yards, winding, some choking. Looks like I need some practice. The photos below are not all verticle--but the zero offset seems pretty consistent from string to string, minus the shots I goofed.
Also, it seems to me I may need to remount the scope as the reticle is slightly off from vertical, so I didn't try to zero it in yet.
Anyway, fun. Looking forward to shooting with my daughter after her homework lets up.
