Fx Crown MKII, or Impact MKIII help me decide!!!!!!!!

Is there any of you fine folks on here that have a MKII Crown???????? I am so torn between the Crown MKII, and the Impact MKIII in .22 cal. I have seen all the reviews on both via YouTube. I love the design of both, I have the same GRS stock on my Model 700 .270 and was leaning towards the Crown as a trainer rifle. However I love the adjustability of the impact, and the powerhouse that it is. For the most part this will be a range gun, with the occasional walk about to shoot some critters. I'm gonna say max range in the woods is gonna be 100 yards. Bench work will be as far as I can effectively hit a target, lol. Ammunition will be more than likely NSA slugs somewhere in the 20-28 gr. just depends on what the gun likes best. Any feedback is much appreciated

If you're going to be shooting slugs, 100% go with the impact mk3. My dad has the crown MkII. I have a crown mk1 (I bought his old one, haha), and I have the Impact 3, and I think they're both great guns. I shoot many pellets, way more pellets than slugs, but I like that the slugs are an option. I honestly didn't really think too much of the Mk2 crown. I just saw the Mk3 and went for it when it was released. The crown MK I, I have thought probably one of my favorite guns to have, especially the style. I like the traditional style a lot, but I guess one of the reasons I went with the impact was I really wanted that AR-type style. There are a lot more adjustments with the MK3, but it's super easy to do. I think that was another reason I went with the impact instead of getting the upgraded Crown. Basically, any of these guns are going to be performing extremely well at 100 yards.

It really all depends on what sort of style you like the most? I think if you're going to be switching far and close distances a lot, the adjustability of the Mk3 might be the easiest way to go, and if you're using a lot of slugs. My understanding with the crown though it also has that superior liner and a built-in plenum haha I guess that doesn't make the choice any easier. But Slug game, I would personally choose the Impact.

I can say that I have a .22 MK1 shooting 36gr slugs from 700mm .22 barrel @ 880fps. It also shoots 25gr slugs @ 950fps from a 500mm barrel (also .22 cal)

The mkii has a larger valve than my mki (mki being 5.5mm, perfect for .22 caliber) mkii also has a larger plenum.

Now, I shoot wooded areas with little or no wind, and I prefer shooting lighter slugs (21gr) at 950fps. So, I'm using less air. The impact by design can output more power, and would be more of a workhorse for shooting very heavy projectiles past 100 yards in the wind. The Impact atually has a less adjustable trigger than the Crown. It does have a valve travel adjustment where the Crown does not. For me, the Crown does better at off-hand shooting. Which is often how I fire while hunting. (It has superior balance) The Impact does not point anywhere close to as naturally as the Crown does either. Now, you do get an extra regulator with the Impact, which is nice. And the Crown has tranfer port adjustment where the impact does not.

Also, if you are considering a GRS stock, keep in mind it is significantly heavier than the normal walnut or laminate stocks. Walnut seems to balance my gun about perfect for off-hand shots. So, the GRS would be even better suited for bench or rested shooting.

I first purchased a FX Dreamline Classic which is a full legnth gun with a 600mm barrel and then bought my first impact. I soon realized I loved bull pup style guns and have 4 now. My impact has a longer barrel than the full legnth Dreamline but is overall much shorter an easier to handle in every respect. I now wish I had considered the platform preference more than I did before I purchased the Dreamline. Of course this is only a preference but is something to consider withe the two guns you are considering.

I just purchased and received a new Crown MK2 .22 in the Saber Tactical chassis. At first I also wanted the GRS stock but then the ultra adjustability of the chassis won me over. I also have a MK2 Impact so have experienced both. I really like the form factor of the rifle over the more “bull pup” style of the Impact. I also like the trigger better on the Crown. It does seem quite long though with the 600mm barrel and moderator attached. The Impact has a 700mm barrel and is still shorter. The Impact also has the ability to put out more power. However, the highest power is not always what you want. I guess it depends on your intended use. Please feel free to ask me any specific questions about either gun. You are also welcome to PM me if you prefer.

Lmao, ugh, you folks are killing me. Now my mind is in torment. I currently have the air avenger shooting slugs and pellets, damn near hole for hole. I just want a better long range gun for small game. Going to pass the avenger to my daughter for a trainer. I appreciate the input. I think whrn the time comes im just gonna have to flip a coin, then doen the road buy the other.

Let me make it simple for you......GET BOTH!!!

Kidding aside it's hard to beat the GRS Crown if you are going to spend most of your time shooting bench or prone, the adjustable stock is phenomenal except it doesn't have the butt pad height adjustment. Grant that's really not needed for airgun with zero recoil but certainly nice to have being a trainer and at that price point.

Qball is right! Get both.

Seriously, I happen to have both. I also happen to love them both. They are great guns. They are both equally capable shooting pellets out to 100 yards. My Crown MK2 in .30 cal is actually more powerful than my Mk2 Impact in .30 cal. Now, I currently have my M3 set up as a .22, and there is no question that the M3 (and the MK 2) can both be adjusted up in power a bit more than the Crown can, but for pellets this doesn't really matter, since either gun can drive just about any pellet faster than is advisable. For most slugs that is also true, but at the end of the day if slugs are your prime consideration then the Impact does have more "upside". This is particularly relevant since some slugs seem to like, or need, a higher speed for optimum stability. Given that slugs also tend to have greater coefficients of friction in a barrel (greater than pellets that is), then you can make use of the extra power and adjustability in the Impact to find that sweet spot. For probably 98-99% of shooters this will not really matter, but it will for some.

For me, slugs just add the complexity of overtravel and that is something I don't need. Generally 99.99% of my shots are inside 100 yards, probably 95% inside 75 yards, since that's as far as I have in my property. I shoot the Crown offhand really well, but the Impact is very close. The Crown is easier on a bench just due to the form factor, but the Impact cycles and shoots faster (i.e. I can pull the trigger faster) than the Crown. One other point, for maximum power you need a 700mm barrel. A 700mm barrel on the CRown is very long, especially when you add a moderator. It's not a "walking around" gun. The Impact is much more compact, even the 700mm gun is not really long.

The Crown does have a superior trigger......

Did I mention I love them both?

Which ever one you pick, you're gonna love it.

I will eventually have them both, lol. Just trying to decide which one is gonna be first. And honestly after reading all this, and doing more homework on my end. I think im gonna pull the trigger on the crown, just for the trainer aspect. Keep saving my pennies, and then get the impact, crank it up for a long range slug monster. Thanks again to you guys for helping

GRS Crown is definitely one of my favorite guns of all time, feel bad for my impact but my yard doesn’t allow me to shoot the impact.

Give Tony at Talon tunes a call, he sometimes has secret stash that is not on the website. Utah air is hopelessly back logged! Just call around and you might find one relatively quick thanks to it being one of the highest priced FX gun and current M3 craze.
