FX Crown Pellet Velocity Test

I've been experimenting with different things on my Crown in shooting the heavy 33.95's. So far I have arrived at 145 bar, HS adjusted to .904".
Shot strings using the three different pellets I have in hand. Nice cool morning here in So AZ.

I have many shot strings showing similar low extreme spread/std deviation with the MK II's @ different speeds. This was the first time shooting the MK I and EDgun pellets and they showed to be extremely efficient as well. Granted the pellets were weight sorted and washed but that's how I shoot all the time.

Shot 4, 50 yd groups with the MK II's a couple days ago. On Max power (845fps), (2) 5 shot groups @ .50". On "5" setting (832fps) 5 shot group @ .40". On "A" setting (??fps) 5 shots @ .60". Have many similar groupings previously as well. Will shoot at 75 and 100 yds when available.

32 shots this morning were from 245b to 185b so extrapolating from 250b to 145b would yield 56 shots, all at max power. Not sure the air consumption is linear but there ya go.

The HS adjustment is discussed here http://www.airgunnation.com/topic/tomincos-fx-crown/.

I would highly recommend the Crown in .25 cal. The rifle was designed around the 25.39g JSB's and has shown excellent accuracy and shot count right out of the box. The excellent BC of the Heavy 33.95's is the draw to experiment for me.

Hey Brian, ain't it great!!! So fortunate to have two great shooters!

Need a new X barrel designed for the 33.95's. Shoots them pretty good already but maybe faster twist rate would be better. Also would love to have a .22 X barrel for the Crown and be able to shoot the "redesigned" 25.39g JSB's at 900-950 fps. Currently shooting the 33.95's at 54'#'s so the power is there. Hopefully FX is working on proper twist rates for the new pellet shapes.

If the new R5(M) EDgun with side lever comes in .22 cal with the ability to do the same as above I would be up for that as well. Hopefully the Huma Magnum kit will fit the R5 if the power is down on the .22.

Gwelo hi,
thanks for detailed and fast response.
assume you cleaned barrel when gun delivered- was it very dirty? - did you remove barrel for cleaning?- roughly how many shots needed to relead ?-
Assume your location at 4k + ft gives higher velocity? Guess it is a trade off for shot count per fill between reg at 145 b against others coming through at 130 b offering 70 to 100 shots.
Your shot strings giving about 10% fpe higher than others.
Was this a standard gun supplied and bought by you therefore not a Special especially for you?

Deliveries slower here than in EU so far.

Sorry to keep pumping questions at you but .........

safe shooting
