Tuning FX Crown Power Wheel Issue....

Hi All,

Let me preface this with I am on 5 hours sleep in the past 48 hours so forgive me if this make little sense or if I missed the obvious!!

I picked up another FX Crown Continuum in .25 and the power wheel is doing the opposite of what it should....On say power 1 it is shooting at 950 FPS and on Max it is shooting at say 810 FPS.

So max seems to be min and min seems to be max....

Am I missing something easy???

Thanks All!!

Had the same problem with a Dreamline a few weeks ago. I got a lot of advice, some of which seemed contradictory, but actually they all had some element of the truth. I ended up having to retune, since it seemed I had much too much hammer spring so that at MAX, or 5, 4 etc. the valve was being slammed and then shut very quickly. Raising the reg would seem like a solution to that, but it wasn’t. Basically I had to go back to square one and start over by LOWERING the reg pressure AND reducing the Hammer Spring preload. Then gradually raising both in synch until I got a velocity I wanted, as well as an ability to change power using the wheel.

Of course someone did point out that they thought it was possible to put the Power Wheel on backwards 😳. I decided that life was too short to try and figure that on out.

I thought I would just post an example here from the thread with the title below.

Help needed. FX Dreamline velocities move opposite to the Power Wheel?

So, I thought I would follow up on my Dreamline Issues, which have been essentially solved with help from the good folks here at AGN.

Like I said earlier up your regulator to 110 or even 120 and see where your speed is at each HS setting. Dial HS down until your Max is at max speed, pretty simple.

like others have said .177 is so small it needs higher burst of air to get moving than .22. You can also experiment with the transfer port and put it on .25 and see if it helps with speed, to increase efficiency you can dial down the HS one setting. BUT you should get well over 900 even with monster redesign at 120 bar reg and max HS. You are almost there, just increase reg which doesn’t need degas even.

I followed up on you advice and adjusted the reg up slightly (approx. 115) and backed out the hammer spring as far as I can without really trying to bend my Allen key. I am now pretty happy with where I am shooting the JSB Monster Redesigns 13.4 gr.

On PW = 5 average FPS is 889, 4 = 888, 3 = 870, 2 = 870, 1 = 859

When I get the time I’ll check it out at Max and at Min, but I would expect somewhere around 900 FPS at Max. It is also laser accurate once again at these speeds with the redesigns.

Much appreciated Chris!!

I did lower the reg pressure to 115 bar as it was set up from the Dealer for 33.95 (using the 380mm barrel) and I plan on shooting solely 23.95 out of the 700mm barrel but I did no hammer spring adjustments for the lower reg pressure (was at 150 bar when it arrived)...

Makes perfect sense....Very much appreciate the reply and details!

Thanks!

Yep. Sounds like you were on the wrong side of the knee for the tune. If you take a regulated gun and turn in the HST, you will see the power climb. Then it will reach a point where it will begin to go down. The peak is called the knee of the curve. Typically the best tune for whatever reg setting you have, is to find the knee and then back off about 15 fps.

Hope that helps.

Mike seems like most of the crowns iv owner dont like a bunch of hammer spring measure the distance on max from end to end in the little beveled cutout from the end off the flat part where your allen goes in try 18 mm to start with leave the stock off so you can adjust over the crony stock setting is 18mm reg at 125 bar with 700mm reg will be lower 380 your reg will be 150 or so with 25 kings to get power out of the shorty 380 and maybe more on the reg
