FX Crown Power Wheel Markings

Apologies if this question has been answered repeatedly.

I'm new to the forum and a new FX Crown owner. I've been unable to figure out the power wheel markings despite a lot of searching online.

The instruction manual advice that "1 and A is on the low side and 5 and E is on the high side" is of no help.

In other words, what settings do I use to incrementally adjust from MAX to MIN?

Thanks,

Jon

I think 18.13 got it right. On the back side of the power wheel is a cam shape that gradually decreases the hammer spring tension as you rotate it from MAX to MIN. More hammer spring tension generally means higher pellet speed. However, the two sides of the cam shape are not exactly the same. One side is slightly thinner than the other, resulting in a little less hammer spring tension than its opposite side. So, you have to go back and forth from one side of the wheel to the other as you decrease from MAX to MIN, to see the power(speed) decrease gradually. That is why the power decreases in the order 18.13 listed: MAX, 5, A, 4, B, 3, C, 2, D, 1, E, MIN. Are you using a chronograph to check the pellet speeds? There are some very helpful videos online to help you learn how to adjust the power wheel and get the best performance out of your Crown. I enjoy shooting my Crown very much. Right now it's my best shooter.

Thank you both, much appreciated!

That progression on the power wheel is certainly not intuitive. I understand though that the cam is apparently not symmetrical which explains it

If I have one complaint about FX and my Crown it's that documentation is really lacking. My Crown is a Gen. 2 but came with an instruction manual for the Gen. 1. When I called FX USA about it, they said they simply hadn't gotten around to updating the manual.

Yes, I've been spending a lot of time (probably too much) watching videos about this magnificent airgun. It's amazing how much expertise exists out there!

I haven't used a chronograph yet but intend to start soon.

Thanks again.
