FX Dreamline Reg Problem

Just a few days ago I posted that I was having issues with the amp reg on my dreamline. The reg gauge would show the reg dropping pressure as I shot a handful of pellets. I figured it was the amp reg acting up so I tried to replace all the orings but the issue persisted. I figured it was the amp reg so I decided to buy a huma reg and toss it in. I set the reg to 160 bar, however the issue still persists. Now the gauge is reading around 80 bar. At this point I am leaning towards replacing the cheap gauges that come with the gun. What would you guys advise? At this point I am definitely starting to see why some ppl on the forum have such massive gripes with FX. Seems like always a minor issue is always coming up.

JadedC, I feel your pain... I had a Dreamline with all kinds of issues right outta the box. To keep a long story short, FX would not stand behind their product saying I got an old "serial number" that wasn't cover by FX USA's 3 year warranty (thank's Utah Airguns. They didn't stand behind this either.) At this point, I owned the POS about a month.... Sad to say my Dreamline ultimately and quite literally, ended up in the trash a few months later.

Theres much more to the story, but the bottom line is - I will never own any FX products or speak kindly of FX USA again.

So, good luck.

Yea the dreamline has definitely convinced me to avoid FX rifles for a while. I have not had as many issues on my other rifles and any that did arise I was able to fix myself (Edgun/Taipan). Like yourself my rifle was one of the first production dreamlines so it seems like I am poop out of luck. At this point I am over this crap and just plan to ship it to Utah Airguns to fix and tune. Once they set it up I am not messing with the gun anymore.
Have you chronied the gun? If it’s your gauge acting up, your speed shouldn’t change. If it’s a reg issue or something mechanical, you will see large diffeeences in speed
I tried to chrony it right after putting the new reg in however none of the slugs were picked up by my fx or caldwell chrono. I guess they don’t work in a garage with the target a couple of feet in front. I didn’t want to keep shooting with the reg being that low in case something was wrong I don’t cause any damage.

FX probably didn’t pick it up because they were going to slow. You have to change the settings in the app in order for it to pick up anything that speed is under 500 FPS

The dream line is one of the easiest FX platforms to repair and tune. Seems to me your frustration comes from not knowing how to diagnose. Just like a car, throwing parts at some thing in hopes that it will fix it, doesn’t mean the car is a POS.

Your other option is to call FX USA can speak with the technician there That can walk you through how to diagnose a problem and how to fix it. There aren’t many other brands out there that have the service support that FX does.

I could tell the slugs were flying a good speed. The gun was giving decent pops when the slugs came out the barrel. Plus I could see the slugs get lodged deep inside the pellet trap I had set up. The slugs were penetrating deeper than any other pellets that had previously gone into the media. So the slugs were definitely going at least 600 fps.

It isn’t really throwing parts…..it would be the common assumption that the reg went bad. Regs seem to be the first thing to go on any gun that has one.

Without being able to chrony, a “loud pop” with a slug isn’t telling you anything. That being said, if you think the gauge is a possible culprit, try lossening the gauge a bit. Sometimes if the gauges are to right, it can block the port and stop the gauge from reading properly. I’ve had this happen on 2 guns that I put new gauges on.

That is true
With FX you can have somebody on the phone line and speak about your problem. Many others does not have phone number . I have experience with customer service, yes that took long time for repair and even longer for shipping. But at least you can update status of your order. With today level of service all around that would be considered as a GOOD

Thanks so much for answering his question and helping solve the problem with the regulator

You may know this already, but just in case
For a regulator to work there needs to be more pressure in the tube than the pressure the reg is set at
Shooting below reg pressure can cause a problem such as you are describing
No insult implied or intended
