FX Fx dreamline triple plenums

Hi,

I just bought an FX Dreamline classic 177 with 600mm barrel, which I will replace with 700mm heavy liner to shoot the heaviest slug possible, preferably the Zan or NSA 20gr. Also I have 2 power plenums.

I know that the FX dreamline comes with 1 power plenum. What happens if I add 2 more plenums, in total it would be 3 plenums?

Also anyone has an efficient tune for 20gr slugs? Could you please share it?

Thanks.

There is such a thing as diminishing returns. At some point, the dreamline valve doesn’t have enough flow to use that much air. A 3rd plenum may be a waste. Don’t know for sure, but I do know my dreamline was not a powerful gun. The plenum added efficiency and shot count, it did very little for power. Adding extra plenums would have done nothing more, so pointless to add.

I watched the 901 YouTube about adding second plenum doesn't do much to gaining power.

Since I have two plenums. Wonder what the downside is if I install two more?

I agree that FX Dreamline is not a powerful gun and the air tank is small anyway to get good shot count with hot setup. I'd probably would try to tune it to a 15 to 16gr. Anyone tuned a 177 dreamline with 700mm barrel for a 16gr zan? What's the reg pressure you're at?

Or perhaps someone care to share their experience tuning the same gun?

Thanks.

I sorta agree .. the Dreamline is not a powerhouse & especially in the smaller caliber.
My personal Dreamtac compact came factory with 1 extra plenum from factory.

Having shot 20 grain .177's in other capable platforms, the dreamline I seriously doubt is up to that task. 12.5 or maybe 15's tho ??

Ya... I had a dreamline tact with 500mm barrel taht I sold a few years back to buy a wildcat mk3 bt.

The reason that I'm buying the classic 177 is because of the 30% discount on clearance sale and I never have a classic stock airgun. And I have a 700mm slug barrel, a slug pin probe and 2 plenums which I will install on the classic to shoot slug from 16gr zan up to 20.5 gr nsa with good shot count (2 mags at least) and because the tank is so small. I don't know if that's doable...
Anyone has the same spec gun shooting slugs that would like to share their experience tuning?

The key is getting the gun to take a big gulp of air. You could have 10 plenums but if your valve is a sipper, you’re just wasting air storage on a tube gun. The 700mm barrel is definitely a move in the right direction when trying to make use of extra plenum space. I never looked at the valve on my Dreamtac so I don’t know how much meat is left on the bone in there. Good luck and keep us posted if you move forward.
