Tuning FX dreamline

Hi guys, i need help

I was busy tuning my dreamline lite bottle with factory plenum, i was shooting 18.13 jsb at around 940fps when the gun suddenly dropped power ,the hammer is maxed but i turn it back to the 'b' setting and the power wheel was on medium, i put the power wheel on high and the hammer on max just to see what the velocity would be and the gun just lost power completely, even when i put it back on previous settings it shoots around 600fps? The regulator is on about 130bar , what has gone wrong ? Please help, the gun is basically brand new

Breach seal failure is not always a time related (wear) event. It can occur with the single rough chambering of a pellet. Or that can initiate a pretty quick failure as subsequent pellet chambering damages the seal which was slightly out of place from the 1 pellet which chambered roughly.

Sudden loss of velocity can many times be traced to the breech seal. And it is pretty quick & easy to remove the barrel from a Dreamline gun for visual inspection.

I must say im currently very disappointed, where i live fx rifles dont come cheap, if i convert my currency to dollar i paid about 1750 for this rifle, a impact would cost me around 3100dollars , as far as i know these rifles come with a 3 year warranty? Guess im going to have to return it and have a fx tech take a look at it, problem is the closest one is about a 1000miles away from me, so its going to take awhile, that sucks

Yes, this is a very disappointing situation as we all know that FX guns are not inexpensive. There have been several discussions in the past few months as to whether FX quality has slipped due to their trying to keep up with market demand, while also designing new products and adding them to the manufacturing floor.

You are in South Africa so I don't know the situation there, but in the U.S. FX maintains a customer support center. A call to them can allow an owner to discuss their issues directly with FX Technical Support, and perhaps resolve some without having to return the gun for warranty repair.

From the FX web site: "Before you send us your question make sure you have made contact with the retailer or distributor. The Distributor in your country is obliged to take care of service and support."

It would look to me like the distributor in South Africa is:

Patriot Outdoors Pty Ldt
Cape Town
Phone: +27834072257
[email protected]
www.patriot-outdoors.com

Perhaps phone them up and see if they can provide any information as to how to get your gun running again?

Make sure your pellet probe is tight also.

Yes, that little grub screw can work its way loose at inopportune times and cause a bit of havoc.

I refilled the gun to 230bar and the velocity increased to 800fps on the max settings with 130bar on the regulator with the 18.13 jsb's, i adjusted the reg to 150bar and got about 10fps more, it was doing 965fps on the same setting before it just dropped power.

Before i bought the gun i spoke to one of the sales agents at Patriot, gave him the gun's serial number, he told me that they supplied this gun to my local store where i bought it. So the gun comes from patriot outdoors, i will phone them today and find out what i should do , i dont want to fiddle with the gun too much in its current state.

Thanks for all the info guys,i appreciate it.

Try the transfer port on each setting and see if you get a higher velocity on the low or 177/22 setting. A similar thing happened to me and it just turned out that the transfer port was mis-aligned. It happened the same way too, right after changing the setting. Easy fix. trust me I understand your frustration with a new gun and having it not perform to task.

Even if you don’t get a lower velocity on a lower setting it could still be mid-aligned just not enough to make that happen.

Thanks Ceasar, I've spoken to a fx technician from the fx distributors here in sa, he told me to send the gun to him and he will do a full inspection on what has caused the sudden power failure, hopefully its something as easy to fix as a mis alignment of the transfer port, said i should know by next week Wednesday

Man, i really like my dreamlite, just disappointed with the current situation, anyway, i will post the result once i have it
