FX FX DRS Trigger Malfunction

I had a slight malfunction with my DRS yesterday. I was shooting a rat and had forgot to take off the safety. I squeezed the trigger and nothing happened, but when I released the safety, the gun went off! Fortunately, it was pointed safely down range. Surprisingly, I still hit the rat!

I have a video of the shot, and if you listen closely to the audio, you can hear a slight click just before the gun fires, this was when I squeezed the trigger. Apparently, the hammer was released by the trigger mechanism, but the safety prevented it from moving, until I released the safety and then it went off! I definately need to make some adjustments to the trigger and see if I can get this fixed!

I didn't post the video here because it's a video of the rat being shot and this isn't the place for hunting videos! If allowed, I can post it so you can hear and see what I'm talking about.

I backed the 2nd stage adjustment off about an ⅛ of a turn and that seems to have helped. I did notice the trigger sticked when squeezed with the safety on, it sometimes won't return to the full forward position. Before making the adjustment, I was able to duplicate the malfunction and it was due to the trigged sticking to the rear after it was released. I have the large plenum with the regulator gauge installed, so I will need to totally degas the airgun to remove the gauge to get the stock off, which will have to happen inorder to remove the trigger to see if I can figure out why it's sticking. For now, anyway, it seems better and I have not been able to duplicate the malfunction since making the slight adjustment to the 2nd stage adjustment screw.

Hi,
it sounds like your safety adjustment is off and causing this issue. But very easy to correct. Adjust the safety adjustment screw ( the one at the back of the triggerbar ) more inwards and that should fix your problem.

Hope that helps !
This made my day. Thanks for chiming in.

I made this adjustment and it reduced the trigger travel while the safety is on. Interestingly, when I first adjusted it, I did it so there was no play when the safety is set, but in this setting the gun would not cock! I backed off the 2nd stage adjustment a bit more thinking that would help, but it still would not cock, so had to back this adjustment off a bit to get it to cock. I thought this was odd because it appears this adjustment just moves this set screw closer or further away from the high point of the cam on the safety. I thought I would be able to adjust it so it's just about to touch the high point on the safety cam so it would have zero travel when the safety was set, but apparently, it also affects some other trigger component as well. Travel is minimal now when the safety is set, and I'm not experiencing any unexpected discharges when releasing the safety after the trigger has been squeezed with the safety engaged. I'm hoping this has fixed the problem. Thanks again FX USA for this tip on fixing it!
