FX FX DRS with low velocity first shot! What should I check?

Unfortunately I don't know if there is. Kinda the problem with balanced valves. I know some people modded their Impacts to make it much better but kinda the nature of the beast with a balanced valve. How are you tuned? 3-5% of max fps?
About that, reg pressure is around 120 if I remember correctly. I'll be able to verify that once I get the o-ring for the plenum seal installed and get everything aired back up. With the second gauge, I should be able to tell if there is any significant reg creep after it sits over night.

I seriously doubt that anyone who’s selling these guns finds the plateau then backs it down 3-5. If it had fun knobs, maybe. So as the new owner it’s time to pull it out of the stock and find the plateau speed. Then see where the factory had it set. If they had it set a 4-5% below, there is hope if you go 3%. If they already had it set at 3% or less, you’re screwed.

What pellets/slugs are you shooting and what's your FPS with it set to 2%?
I have a 500mm .22. I am shooting 18gr 865 ish and 16gr 920 ish. I shot a cold shot this morning with the 18gr because their velocity is more consistent than a Hades. Not because of the gun. It’s because a Hades doesn’t have as consistent head size like their domed brethren. First shot was 845fps and dead on at 30 yards. Then 860fps, also dead on. My gun comes off the reg around 110b. There’s room to turn up the reg plenty if I wanted to try to make the gun a slug shooter but I doubt I will. It’s already loud enough. To make the gun as quiet as my other .22’s, it takes a considerable length mod and the gun looks stupid. So yes, even at 2%, I have a slow shot. But it’s not extreme enough to get worked up about, yet. I’m going to try not to jack with the reg and just be happy where the gun is at. Jacking with regs usually only makes matters worse with creep.

It's an FX thing..
It certainly is. I just shot four shots out of it again today, 837, 853, 859, then 864. Pulled the Zbroia out of the safe because it’s the gun the DRS is competing with for a slot in the safe. The Zbroia has been sitting 6 months, 856, 855, 862, 862. Of the seven other brands of guns I own, no dry firing is required like @EDventure said. Maybe FX should start putting that in the owners manual.

I installed the SHP Plenum this morning and did some testing. Install is pretty straight forward, just degass the gun and the plenum, loosen the 4 bolts on the bottom of the standard plenum, remove it and replace it with the new SHP plenum. No need to even remove the stock!

First thing I did was run a 10 shot string of H&N Barracuda Hunter 18.52 grain pellets through it to stabilize the regulator before I did the base line. As expected, the 1st few shots were low, then it stabilized at an average 913 FPS. Here's the shot stricg:

H&N .22 18.52gr

Shot count: 10

Low: 856 FPS
Hi: 914 FPS
Avg: 904 FPS
Spread: 58 FPS
STD Dev: 16.7 FPS

914,FPS,34.4,FT Lbs,
912,FPS,34.2,FT Lbs,
912,FPS,34.2,FT Lbs,

I'm still getting the lower velocity first few shots, so definitely need to run a couple hundred pellets through it to see if I can get the regulator to settle down. Accuracy on these aren't so great, so I will probably be blowing the 2 tins I have to see if I can get the regulator to settle in.

Next I shot a 5 shot string of 18 grain AA pellets and a 5 shot string of the 22 grain FX Hybrid slugs:

AA .22 18.0gr

837,FPS,34.3,FT Lbs,

This was the baseline with the stock plenum.

Next I degassed it and installed the SHP plenum. I aired it back up to 230 BAR and set to shooting another 5 shot string of the 18 grain AA pellets and 22 grain FX Hybrid slugs:

AA .22 18.0gr

1035,FPS,42.8,FT Lbs,

FX Hybrid .22 22.0gr

Shot count: 5

Low: 937 FPS
Hi: 946 FPS
Avg: 942 FPS

STD Dev: 3.0 FPS

942,FPS,43.3,FT Lbs,
946,FPS,43.8,FT Lbs,
937,FPS,42.9,FT Lbs,

The slugs picked up an average 106 FPS and the pellets picked up an average 97 FPS. The regulator is sitting at 130 BAR. There was no change to either the regulator or the hammer spring tension, I just swapped the plenum! This increased FPE by about 11 FPE with the pellets and 12 FPE with the slugs. Interestingly, the POI of the FX Hybrid slugs barely changed, maybe a 1/16th of on inch higher, but still grouping extremely well at 35 yards. Fro the time being, I think I'm going to leave it as is. Oh, and I also tried some of the cheap 25 grain Apollo slugs and they grouped almost as good as the Hybrids! They were running about 45 FPE. Just the plenum change really made a pretty significant difference!

After I finished, I topped it off to 230 BAR and let it sit for a couple hors. I did notice when I checked after a couple hours that the regulator pressure had crept up 5 BAR to 135 BAR. I just hope running a few hundred pellets through it will help!

What barrel lenght do you have? is that the 600?

I can get a full 3 magazines, it starts falling off the regulator about half way through the 4th mag. The angled manometer mount is the same as the Impact M3. I'm not sure I'm going to keep it on there, but for now it will stay so I can monitor the regulator pressure.

There is a plug on the bottom of the SHP plenum like the one on the front of the standard plenum, so you can probably mount a gauge facing down on the bottom of the plenum if you don't have the angled mount. The angled mount prevents the ability to remove the stock without removing all the air from the gun and removing the mount.
