Fx gun .177cal shooters

I ended up with two FX 177 setups. I have only had a chance to do some velocity testing so far and hope to do some paper printing this Wednesday. I have a 500mm Wildcat, and a 500mm Maverick both about ~110Bar with some upgrades. I have tried 10g HN Barracuda and 10g JSB KO MK3 Slugs and they do an easy 980fps. I havent finished building them yet so no pics at this time...

FX Dreamline with Maverick dual reg system and plenum. Shooting 20gr ZAN slugs @~960fps. First reg at 170bar, 2nd reg at 130bar. 600mm STX Superior Heavy liner.

Get heavy liner.
Zan slugs like to fly around 970 fps, expect 16 grain to be the heaviest you can shoot, standard liner though will also shoot 13 grain pretty well.
JSB slugs will also work, and so will a range of pellets even in the heavy liner.

In .177 the twist rate on standard and heavy liner is the same, but the heavy are still a bit different i feel, if you make 0 changes, stuff fly at different speeds out of the 2 barrels.

I shot / shoot a Maverick, other than it being modded to handle a 700 mm barrel instead of 600 it is standard.

I've got a .177 Dreamtac (standard, full tube, not bottle or compact) with a 500mm Superior liner. I run 7.3, 7.8, 8.4 and 10.34 JSBs on a 100 bar reg. By varying the TP and hammer wheel, I can use the light stuff in the basement for offhand trigger time during the winter. Turn it up with Heavies for pesting or hunting. I've been pleasantly surprised with more than acceptable accuracy from each of the above pellets at appropriate power levels.
The Dreamtac is a very light gun and I found that it started to feel very harsh trying to get 16gr Beasts or even 10gr K.O. slugs to run fast enough to be useful, so I can't comment on those. I leave the heavy stuff (13gr and up) for the unregulated Mrod and limit the Dreamtac to lighter pellets. I've written off slugs in my rifles, as I really don't have the range available to justify the effort or the expense.

I just had a little chrono session in the living room, using my 700 mm Two rifle

With 60 BAR on the reg i shoot 10 gr KO MK3 slugs at 980 fps, and 13.43 gr MRD pellets at 865 fps. ( no change on hammer spring adjuster )
Upping the pressure to 80 bar for the 13 grain Zan slugs i get 980 fps

But of course i have a longer " runway " to get things up to speed.

I found that with just 60 bar on the REG and having a assisted valve, if i back the HS adjuster all the way out so it come loose / fall off, and then turn it in 2-3 full revolutions, i barely get the valve to activate, but a little more and things fall into place.
I think having been too aggressive with the hammer spring i have destroyed a bump stop like O-ring in the valve, so i am now taking a more chill approach to tuning the Epic Two.

Actually 10 gr pellets in my long rifle, OMG you have to be at the minimum 56 BAR ( huma regulator ) and so far back on the hammer adjuster the valve barely activate to not shoot 10 grain way too fast.

The epic regulator can go lower, but me being a crusty old fool ruined it a little when i took it out  but i believe it can adjust as low as 45 bar so i want to use that for the light stuff for sure.

Now thats a load of information! I need to bring this new m4 to you! Im shooting howler slugs 12gr atm and there dumping squirrel out of the tree!!

I have not been able to find any howler slugs here, well maybe in the UK but since they left the gang it is a bit problematic.
NSA is also fine but they are way overpriced here.
The howler slugs out of my mk2 I had and daystate redwolf I had were amazing. They are proving to show promise with this m4 so far! I'll have a update soon. I got a squirrel hunting honey hole spot that's calling my name!!

Not for me, i recently put a standard 600 mm barrel on my Maverick, assuming it would then be my pesting rifle shooting those Mk3 slugs, but at least in a cold Danish winter day i was not able to get them to fly right, and in the end i had to abort and dial for pellets to be ready for when the sun fell below the horizon.
Sadly i can not put my 700 mm barrels back CUZ i cut 100 mm of both of those, and i have not bothered working on the crown of those.

In my CZ barrel epic Two they are like lasers. so ATM i just swap scopes when it get dark.
This also fine for sitting in the shed at a bench shooting rats, but otherwise a 700 mm barrel Two is not a rifle i would like to carry around, for damn sure would need to be mounted on a tripod.

My Maverick with bot standard and heavy 700 mm barrel, would shoot 13 grain JSB and Zan just fine, heavy barrel a little bit better but marginal.
That is why i assumed the 10 grain JSB slugs would work too, but they do not, i can not recall if i tried those in my 700 mm barrels before i cut off the choke but i dont think so.
10 grain Zan slugs also fly bad for me in both FX barrels and CZ barrel, but they fly excellent in my friends Snowpeak M30
13 grain also good smacking power, but i wanted to try the lighter 10 grainers with a larger hollow point for less penetration even if right now it is not a concern in any way where we shoot.
