FX Hybrid 25 cal in gel

I found some pieces of already used gel block to test with that had some clear area. I shot through a two inch piece and caught the projectile after. I also shot it so the gel would catch it.

Shot at 960 fps, gel was 2 feet away. I plan on doing more at distance. Pretty cool its dumping 53 FPE in 3 inches.

I shot it at 18 yards (thats a squirrel kill zone distance in my yard) and 30 yards
I'll try and get some Labradar data this weekend and get the speeds at those distances.

This morning I took down a squirrel at 18y. Its head was at a 45 degree angle to me. Left eye in line with right ear. Aimed on the left eye and it didn't pass through. The impact sound was impressive as all that energy was delivered.

I'm not familiar with the gel testing. Is there a way to tell when the slug expanded by looking at that?
Or did it stop when the slug was fully expanded?
Looking at the channel it would appear it expanded with the slug and then goes back down in size a bit as the slug passes.

If you want to see the permanent cavity ( I mean a retained shape of the wound channel ) use a harder media like soft soap or paraffin block. The gel does not retain the cavity.

That would show when the slug/pellet reached a particular expansion?

If you wanted to see the expansion cavity, you could do a slow-mo vidio on your cell phone..most camera apps have the "slow-mo" option.

You could also simulate the expansion at different distances by adjusting your power settings (hammer-spring tension?) to match the "expected" Chairgun or StreLok velocity at say 50 or 100 yards, then shooting into the gel at the reduce "terminal velocity".
