FX Hybrid slugs quality

All my FX Hybrid .22 have to be cleaned, too much lead dust and debris. cosmetically wise they are subpar quality, in the same level as Crosman Premiere. it's like buying a Ferrari but it's manufactured and built by Hyundai, lots of lead shavings, FX spent a lot of money on the packaging and marketing but not putting much thought onto practicality.

How about making them available in 200 or 300 rounds in a tin can instead? I love my Impact M4 but I'm not one to drink the FX Koolaid, the fancy packaging went straight into the trash, too impractical and pain in the rear to get them out of the plastic tray for reload, i just flip and dump all of them them onto napkin to clean and lube them lightly, then placed them into empty Crosman Premiere .22 tin can, each tin can hold 300 rounds easily. The Hybrid shoot just fine from my 600mm stock M4, will use them mostly for pesting since they have better expansion than other slugs.

All the NSA I've received thus far are so much cleaner with better built quality, they came lightly lubed already, for 1/2 the cost of the FX Hybrid.

Hey brother... I aside from having trash accuracy with them, got sick of pulling patches and seeing lead flakes everywhere.. they're filthy, the flashing is excessive, I flat out do not like them, however I shoot .25 and hear .22 is slightly better. Griffin sells 200 packs of cup base hollow points slugs that match the design of hybrids. Much better results.

Impulse air makes a .22 .217 22grain slug IDENTICAL to hybrids. Cleaner, 200ct, in a bag.

Good luck. I can't recommend trying Griffin LDC and the Hollow base HP slugs enough. Griffin airgun ammo slugs are fantastic

If you want some clean, high expansion slugs with shot to shot consistency, try Varmint Knocker slugs, he sells on ebay, or Griffin slugs from griffinairguns.com

These Hybrid slugs have a lot of lead shavings all over them, most definitely the dirtiest slugs i've ever seen.

Are those Impulse air slugs and Griffin's just as soft as the Hybrids with similar expansion? I'll definitely get me some to try.

Impulse slugs are rebranded hybrids with a higher ct of slugs per bag. Griffins as far as I know are pure lead.

Most definitely! more than happy to trade off penetration for higher expansion and consistency. I heard a lot of good things about the Varmin Knockers, another one i haven't get to try yet, but definitely will.

Oh wow....very glad and happy to hear, i'll be ordering some. 🥳

The Griffin slugs expand greatly even at relatively low velocity. I shoot the .22 ldcs out of my notos at just a hair under 800. This is expansion 750 fps give or take can get you. The .25 griffins I'm shooting at 885-940 and they turn into everything a hybrid does and more.. like a dime sized lead pancake. I dug this 17gr Out of a chipmunk I headshot. I rarely get pass throughs unless it's REALLY REALLY close in

I have had phenomenal luck with the .30cal FX Hybrid Slugs. The quality was exceptional and looked nothing like those you have shown. I also have had good luck with these in .357cal/9mm. Maybe the manufacture of these in the smaller calibers is causing an issue?
In .22 you have to shoot them beyond 965fps and they need to git the mark just right, otherwise they close flatten the HP and simply tumble and pass through almost like a pellet.

Just a little preview from what the VK can do.

Those are some awesome results from the Griffin and Varmint Knocker, great energy dump for sure!

I'm not sure, my .22 hybrids look like they came from Crosman factory. I happened to have two boxes of the .30 hybrids, you got me curious so i went to check on them, they do seems to be cleaner and better made, not as rejects-looking as the .22. You can see how much lead shavings all over those .22, they are filthy.

A lot of those .22 skirts have lead strips peeling off, I ordered 16 boxes and all of them are looking like these.

Can those manged up looking skirts end up scoring/scratching the heck out of my M4 liner when they leave the barrel?

the lead is much softer than your liner, it will just dirty it.

They are dirty, but absolutely super accurate out of my .30 AAA. Accuracy is everything to me and I have just settled on pulling a patch every refill. I bought straight from RMR too, and they actually seem a little dirtier because of bulk packaging, but shoot the same for less money.

My hybrids didn't have any flaking, however... I made the mistake of keeping them in my garage for over a year. They oxidized pretty quickly. I assume that's why ZAN changed from a moisture collecting cardboard sleeve to foil sealed packaging.

I was shocked and sad to see all the oxidation. I didn't want them to go to waste so I cleaned them in a sonic cleaner with 50% water / 50% vinegar. It removed the oxidation real quick, but then I had to re-lube them with a shot of Gunzilla, and store them in an air tight metal tin. Not an ideal situation, but at least they didn't go to waste!

FWIW - I cleaned 2000 rounds in a matter of minutes and had very little metal flakes in the bottom of the sonic cleaner. When did you purchase these?

I wonder if yours loose any weight from oxidation after stripping them with vinegar in sonic cleaner? hope yours would still fit and seal nicely in the liner as long as their diameter didn't change too much.

I received mine few days ago from PA. cleaned and coated them lightly with Ballistol and stored in tin cans, it didn't take long either...only few minutes, still have about 5 packs in original packaging that I kept aside for now.

Switching to zan not only tightened my groups by .4moa, I get 200 for 20 instead of 100 for 15... And they dont oxidize as you've said

Edit: the fx hybrids I've had arrive with excessive flashing have come from TPS, TRENIER, and UA between June and September. I have only used Zan, Griffin, H&N since. And will never go back
