+1: In .177 smooth twist is a bad choice for 12 fpe, but OK at higher power (below the FT 20 fpe limit)."scrane"I've heard of accuracy problems at 12fpe with smooth twist. Best check it out.

"jps2486"I've found that there is no multi-purpose tool that does anything well. If you want to shoot FT, then get an FT gun. If BR, then get a BR gun. If you like the Impact, get two and set each one up for its intended purpose.
Really? Aggghhh You can't be serious!! The crescent wrench is the greatest tool ever invented, LOL. Metric and SAE? How can you beat that. OMG Just giving you some crap,LOL. I am a mechanic and while I am sometimes forced to use a crescent wrench because of the situation I almost alway use a combination wrench or a 6 point socket as I find 12 pointers have a tendency to round of scummy bolt heads. Actually all of my impact sockets I've even gone so far as to machine off the lip so all I get is a good grip on the bolt with the complete socket head. I still have no idea as to what I am going to get. Time will tell and I would love nothing better than to purchase a Thomas FT rifle but I am not independently wealthy and I refuse to pay that much profit on a single air rifle. And the answer is yes, I know what it costs for him to build one. God bless him, he came up with a fantastic design with absolutely no knowledge of air rifles and I have nothing but respect. Unfortunately last time I heard he was not accepting respect as a form of payment LOL. But I love the fact he's willing to pay anyone who wins a major competition with his rifle $1,000.00. Good for him. Giving back to the people who purchase from him. I read some of the posts on the yellow from some folks who though he should pay any American who wins $1,000.00 regardless of the rifle they used and I thought WTFAY (who the are you?) to tell him who he should pay. well better be careful, soap box is getting wobbly. LOL By the way I am a professional mechanic in the industrial area. And I have seen Turbine ( I work in the power plant industry) Engineers tear people apart for touching their turbines with a "crescent wrench". I don't care though, 27 years in the industry I know how to use a wrench, even a crescent wrench. And I have seen muscle heads do as much damage with an open end wrench as they could with a crescent wrench."tiptop"To me, the crescent wrench proves the point - I'd much rather use an open end or box end wrench than round off the corners with a crescent. :^)
On the other hand, Ted Bier won the EBR with an Impact which in theory should be at a disadvantage due to weight, let alone other factors. It just goes to show that lots of practice and familiarity can trump the choice of tool.
