FX Impact Compact vs EdGun R5M Matador....just curious

Already own the Impact Compact.

The family:

I have a .30 Impact and a .177 R5M. Both great guns, but the Edgun is NO Impact. Where you come up with FX has fluff IDK, but my Impact is an awesome gun.

I think the biggest drawback to the edgun is the magazine. It just plain sucks. 10 shots, fire when empty, doesn't always index. The Impact is superb in this category too.

My .30 Impact flinging slugs w/ more power than a .22LR, accurate at 100yds. Soon to get the new power plenum and some more speed & power. Only thing my Impact won't do is semi-auto, but it's not that kind of gun, but neither is the edgun. An SK-19 will be in my arsenal as soon as they release the .30.

My dainty little .177 Edgun R5M TANK (by that, I mean it's HEAVY), good and accurate out to 50yds, but that's about it. (IDK what you expect from a .177 anyway)

They both great guns, that's why I own them, but to say "the edgun is better than the Impact", I just do NOT agree.

PS EDMU sucks.

I really like the idea and functionality of the EDMU. I can see that there will be a next level of electronics integration in our sport in the near future.

I am a huge EDgun fan but must admit the reliability of the first versions of the EDMU disappointed me. The newer versions are better. I don’t play with them as much so I am not replacing batteries🤔😂 I can tell you that I truly do not like all the tiny fragile parts that retain the battery. This is my most significant complaint about the EDMU. I will use them till I can no longer replace the battery cause they are accurate and show useful data.

Ed, get rid of the brittle plastic battery retainer and I am a fan.

BTW... my R5M .22 Std is a real shooter. I took advantage of the opportunity when an AGN member wanted to sell it. This thing just keeps getting better. It is shooting 18.1s at 895 with precision. It is the one that gets shot the most. It is typically on my table on my patio. I have the great fortune to have a property that is backed by corps of engineers ground on a lake. I have my 150 yd range out back👊🏻

I have to be totally honest though... when I go hunting or pesting, I grab a Lelya 2.0. I use the .177 in barns, attics, crawl spaces and such or when conditions are perfect. For all else I grab the .25 Lelya 2.0.

The .22 Matador Std is a backup for any hunting scenario for me. I love the small platform of the Lelya 2.0.

Never owned an Impact.

My Taipan Compact covers the Leyla for my needs and I thought the Matador for longer stuff. Yeah, for now I like my guns to be purely mechanical, no electronics.

@MonsterMaxx I know the FX has some abilities the Matador doesn’t have or might not. I own an Impact, and I have no need for a semi auto. My Impact is the latest version, MKII compact with the superior liner as standard and has the power plenum. I like some of the tweaking features of the Impact but I truly want Remington 870 shotgun reliability and toughness in my airguns, in the long run, I am coming to realize the Impact definitely won’t have that 870 durability. So that durability factor is why I am looking to the Matador and people seem to like that dual side cocking lever.

@mtnghost I like having different brands of guns, for a mix and feel, so why I am not currently considering another Taipan, for now.

I don’t have to make a decision, but I will give a hard think over the weekend to decide if the Impact Compact needs to find a new home, and the EdGun gets added to the safe.
