fx impact degassing issue

I'm stumped. Hopefully someone out there can point me in the right direction. When I remove the bottle from my MK2 impact instead of getting a short hiss of escaping air the entire plenum and all of the regulated air gets dumped out of the rifle in a bid whoosh of air and the reg gauge drops to zero. Normally this should be a two step process with some regulated air left in the rifle which is removed either by dry firing or opening up the reg. it just started doing this.I recently did some work on the valve stem and I'm wondering if perhaps I damaged an oring? Could it maybe be a regulator issue? Any advice would be appreciated.

Whether the plenum air stays or evacuates is an indication of the regulator’s valve seat being fully closed or still slowly weeping air at the time the bottle is removed.

By itself, the plenum evacuating is not necessarily anything to be concerned about. Are you seeing any problems with pressure creep in normal use?

If you remove the bottle and you are too close or below your regs set point the whole gun will degas. If you are thinking that your reg is set at let’s say 130b and your tank says it has 150b in it, you must consider that one or both of your gauges are off by up to 10b. So you might be closer to your set point than you think when you unscrew the bottle. Air the gun up to 225+ bar and see if the gun still degasses.

Thanks for the reply. I could be worrying about nothing here because the gun seems to be working fine. I haven't had any creep issues But it's just something new that it didn't used to do and that really irks me. I've replaced a bunch of orings in and around the plenum and that hasn't made a difference. I'm going to work on the regulator next and see if I can figure this out. Even if that doesn't solve the issue I could use a little practice taking apart the reg. Never done it before and I'm curious. A good cleaning and a change of orings can't hurt.

I aired it up to 225 ad the reg is set at 110 and the whole gun is degassing when I unscrew the bottle. It's a real head scratcher. Oh well, I"m going to disassemble the reg and see if anything looks out of order.

I have a Dreamline Tac and had this issue, it turned out to be the regulator.

You are correct.I just finished cleaning the reg and changing the orings on it (no simple task considering it was my first time)and Voila! Problem solved. The reg refreshes super fast now too. I'm not sure exactly what on the reg was causing the problem but I figured a complete overhaul should cover all the bases. I can't wait to get this gun back out on the range.
