Fx impact just arrived!! Quality control poor!!

I just got my impact last Friday it was just sitting on my porch as I got home! It came in the new long box it fully assembled in the box. So I took it out looked it over was completely in love with it! This gun has the look and feel like no other gun out there. I loved it couldn't wait to shoot it unfortunately I had to work so a few days later I finally get to shoot it. I'm shooting it getting it sighted in shooting good I only had 25 kings which shot decent groups at 50 but was waiting for 34's in mail. I shot a few hundred rounds and decided to take the barrel out clean it up a bit. So unscrew set screw cock the gun remove the mag and go to remove the barrel. The barrel was real tight so at this point I say to myself I've seen this done on the tube a million times what the world. So I pulled and pulled and it finally came out. I'm very pissed at this point I buy a $2000 gun and the berral is stuck in it! I look over the barrel there's medal shaving around the set screw hole on the barrel it's a little scratched up! I'm furious now after waiting as long as I did then paying all the money I did I get sent a gun that's basically thrown together and sent out the door. So I just clean the barrel look inside the breech where the barrel goes to so if there's something causing the tight fit and see nothing. So I slide the barrel in and it gets caught up right at the breech. I pull back out try to turn it slide it back and forth nothing works. I thought maybe it just needs a little force so I pushed and it just slides way back in there. It was so far back that the mag didn't even fit!
That little notch on the brass fitting had it wedged in there and it was so stuck! This had me so aggravated I had to walk away to cool down! So I come back and pull it out after trying several times! I finally get it and inspect the barrel the brass fitting where the notch is messed up and it's just scratched up! So that's how I got aqaunted with my new 2000 dollar gun! I mean how can you not take the barrel out inspect the gun at least a little bit before you send it out the door! It's so ignorant like come on people I have a business I sell produce for a living and ik poop happens from time to time. When you sell something that cost as much as this gun does you should really pay more attention! I called AOA I have to send the gun back to them so they can look at it and it's just so disappointing that after the long wait and big money Paid I have to send it off after having it for less than a week! I could go buy a damn BB gun from Walmart and not have to send it off to be fixed! So come on get your stuff straight. If the FX people or AOA people would have taken a second to remove the barrel at there shop this hole little write up wouldn't Be here! That's something to think about! Do your jobs right people!

Frank - I dont own an Impact (& currently couldn't really afford one :-( )...but
Could you give some more detail to this section of your post ( I mean your exact or actual methods at this stage) -

"decided to take the barrel out clean it up a bit. So unscrew set screw cock the gun remove the mag and go to remove the barrel. The barrel was real tight so at this point I say to myself I’ve seen this done on the tube a million times what the world. So I pulled and pulled and it finally came out".

I'm concerned because a 'step' in the barrel removal may have been missed, not saying it has, just a 'maybe'.

The brass insert to the action ('Thimble') is of course less hard / durable than steel, it's also a seperate part, so easily replaceable.

Removal of the barrel should be almost effortless. Just a little friction from the o-rings. It concerns me that you had to "pull & pull" to get it out, then "force" it back in. Something doesn't sound right. Are you certain that you were pulling the barrel in a perfectly parallel motion in relation to the breech?

"Nueces"Lots of profit right now for FX with the Impact. So they're slapping them together as fast as they can it sounds like. These later guns should be better than the early ones but instead they sound like they are worse. Not good.

OP. Thanks for this heads up and ... Line breaks. Line breaks.

Thats a pretty bold statement. I got the impression the reason there is such a long wait for the Impact is likely the opposite of your speculations.

Mine leaked when it showed up but Jim and Nancy at precision air took care of me to get it back to AOA. It is a little frustrating dealing with a new gun that does not work right for sure. Customer communication with AOA was was not the greatest but they got it fixed and got it back to me. Now I could not be happier at this point with it. Great gun so far. Bite the bullet send it to AOA maybe ask they pay shipping. But they made mine right sure they will do the same. Good luck with it they are nice when they work.

I have to agree with the QC dropping on the impacts.

i have had couple dozen of these go through my hands here in the UK and I have had one that was very difficult to get the barrel in and out and this was returned.

most disappointed with the cheek pieces on the most recent batch, while the rest were all nice and smooth and polished, looked like these were not polished and look rough/dirty, just makes the whole gun look bad. It does not effect the performance of the gun, but you just don't expect it to have such a poor finish.

Now i'm forced to buy well finished cheek pieces to replace these or send the guns back and wait a few months for the next shipment.

Too many reports of problems. If they aren't pushing them out without proper QC then what is your reasoning as to all the problems with the Impact? And don't tell me, "We only hear about the bad issues. The majority of folks are fine with their guns." That is a canard. Issues with the Impact are rampant.

1. You have an anger issue (don't take this comment to seriously...)
2. Many first generation products have their fair share of issues.
3. Walmart guns have been around for a while, so they are tried and tested. No surprise that they work "better" and more reliable...
4. Price has nothing to do with it. At least not to a certain degree.
5. I would be pissed too, ha ha.

Yes I had taken the set screw completely out. The barrel was simply too big for the receiver. So tomorrow I'm printing out my shipping label from AOA then shipping it off. After all my complications the barrel seems to be sliding in and out somewhat better. The biggest issue at this point is the barrel looks like poop and it's a week old. When you slide the barrel in there's a lot of play it don't just pop into place. It takes a bit of adjustment to find just where it is centered. So today after I got it all put back together correctly I was about seal the package ready for return to AOA then my pellets from PA came in. So out of curiosity I wanted to shoot the 34 gainers to see the accuracy. I filled the gun to 240ish and took it out to the range put it on the rest and began to shoot groups at 50. Things seemed ok but after shooting 1 clip more problems started to occur! YEP I cock the gun go to pull the trigger. Click!!! Nothing happens so I cock the gun pull mag out to prevent a double load. I push the cocking handle forward go to pull the trigger click. I repeat finally she shoots. I then begin shooting again and I couldnt get very good groups I tried all different power adjustment 3-5 with 34 MK1's and MK2's accuracy was poor. I also had the 25 kings and tried to same all power setting 1-5 groups no better. I could notice the pellet during flight looked very sporadic. So In my back yard I have a Lane that's 160 yards facing the east. It's perfect in the evening the suns at your back and you can just see your pellet in flight perfectly. So I take aim shoot and the pellets are all over the place swirling it was awful I tried all pellets in all various speeds nothing seemed helped. So that's the deal what do yall think. The hole miss firing situation, (this happened multiple times) the barrel being very tight, and the pellet spiral being terrible!! All I know is it really sucks I was extremely excited about this gun and after all this it's very disappointing. I hope AOA or FX cares and wants to fix this and make things straight. At this point I'm not completely done with FX Just waiting to see how they handle my case. Just so everyone knows I never tinkered with the gun in any way this gun is straight out of the box and shot. The only thing I did was pull the barrel out and put it back in. I'm all about the warranty for cases just like this.
I will keep everyone posted. Im sending the gun off tomorrow as soon as aoa get its and tells me whats going on you'll know.

Sorry you are having issues. The impact was on my short list but, I was turned off by the multiple calibers because I have NO interest in changing the barrel. Once I started reading of some problems, the Impact quickly was removed from my list. Decided the Wildcat was what I was looking for and purchased. I have an AirWolf and Cricket but I shoot my Wildcat 99% of the time and last weekend I took my first 100 yard kill which is what I've been hoping for, it was awesome. Fit and finish has been top notch, but I suspect the Wildcats are not under the same demand as the Impact. Whatever is going on FX REALLY needs to address quickly as the Impact is their flagship development air rifle. I have dealt with AOA for many years as I live very close, but they have always did me right, so best wishes on AOA sorting out the issue with your Impact.

Your logic does not make sense. Many people come to the forums for help or information. If FX is "pumping them out at a ridiculous pace", then why aren't you seeing or hearing about this incredible number of them... good or bad?
