FX Impact M3 - barrel polishing

I'd like to see anyone remove tooling marks in rifling with JB borecompound. If you any of you have custom hand lapped barrels from any of the big manufacturers the inside finish of the barrels is excellent shiny smooth and uniform.. I'm not doing anything different for accuracy in my airgun than I did a 6 ppc or 1000 yard rig.

Try to polish outside of a barrel on a lathe and start with 400 grit and see how long it takes you to get a finish. Its the same as on the inside.

Amen. That's a great thing to always have in mind when tackling a new bore.

Over time, my humble gunsmithing efforts have migrated to ever more aggressive methods and abrasives. It's a lesson I wish I had learned earlier, but that's the nature of a lesson born out of iterating a little each time to build skill and confidence.
