FX FX Impact M3

Just puttin along with my M3. Late to the party as I only recently purchased it a few months back. I did own one of the first versions when AOA was selling them finally sold that one to try something new, anyhow I have my new one (.22 600mm) tuned for 18gr. JSBs average 916fps. Typical 1/2inch or under very consistent groups and almost silent with FX factory moderator. I haven't added or modified any parts just a few adjustments and getting (7 mags) 196 shots on a 250 bar fill without going below the reg (70) bar. I am very happy with this gun.

Sounds like you've got it set up the way that you want it.
Nicely done!

Mike
Thanks, I have tried a couple things including some 27gr H&N HP2 slugs with success I might add but I mostly shoot paper in my yard out to 55-70 yards and really have no need for slugs. Its much more economical to shoot pellets for me.

When my M3 finally arrived I figured I should just shoot it to see what it needed rather than get every add on and increase weight. I did put a spirit level on since I felt it was important to make sure the reticle was over the bore for precision, and a bipod near the trigger.

After a while I shot a buddy’s Impact with a nice, fatter, rubber-overmolded grip and knew I had to have one. The stock grip seems to be made for a much smaller hand than mine.

Since I always want smaller groups I bought a carbon barrel sleeve & later epoxied it. You might be able to do as well with the stock O-rings. I can’t say for certain.

Thousands of rounds later I would regularly find myself at the bench with the butt not touching my shoulder. I’m 6’ tall and decided the stock setup wasn’t made for someone with my wingspan. Enter the Sabre Tactical adjustable butt pad. A very good purchase to make the rifle fit me, though if you are smaller you may not need it.

After about two years I wanted to try the bipod location further out front and liked the idea of a rail under the bottle to protect it. Yeah, it added weight but the stability with the increased distance from bipod to rear bag is very noticeable. Even in the field I know I don’t really want to shoot offhand, but rather take well setup precision shots at distance, sniper fashion.

I’ve considered but so far resisted an aftermarket moderator or backbone. At 50 ft. lbs. she’s pretty quiet with the stock can and I don’t want to go through five of them that I can’t resell here, and burn through the ammo to retune with each to find what works. I’ve got decent accuracy at 100 & 150 yards and don’t want to chase expensive rainbows.

Now if I could shrink my groups just a 1/4 inch I’d be satisfied...for at least two weeks. Our shared plight?

This is my second Impact the first was one of the originals (MK1 .25), I put a Donny Tatsu on that one but to be honest I'm not sure it made a deference. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot the M3 out past 70 yards but the MK1 shot some fine groups out to 100 and beyond. I am getting some great groups out to 55-60 yards in my yard with the M3.

You can pretty much blueprint an Impact without ever spending a dime. Then once the gun is on point, shooting pellets and not constantly jacking with the gun, it can stay on point for a very long time. The last M3 I purchased, I did a one year test with it. My other two M3’s were sluggers right out the gate and were constantly under the knife until I got them dialed. My pellet M3 got a peek washer before I even shot it, proper lube, probe seating depth check, glued CF sleeve then proper reassembly. With all three of my M3’s, I found small issues with how they were set up. Not horrific issues that cause glaring problems, but they needed corrected.

I tuned that gun in one session for a certain hunting pellet and never touched it for around a year. The gun was stellar. Took it hunting all season many months after initial setup and cleaned house with it. After that test I lost my mind and the gun became a guinea pig for barrel testing. It’s now a pellet/slug shooter without having to touch anything other than my wheel. And still no hot rod parts.
