FX FX IMPACT M4 barrel liners 700mm

Hi , I was at the gun shop today and they had a slug liner A. They checked the code and said it was a 1:16 twist. (It was stamped on it too)

They also told me the stx heavy liner won’t have a 1:16 twist on 600mm barrel.

Now I’m confused
Correct. Except, the "superior heavy" is the "heavy" liner 1:18.. FX also seemingly released an updated stx slug A. Which I have. I will send you a picture of the part number when I get home.

This is the liner that I is in my M3 and my DRS Pro came with the same liner.

I'm not sure why FX is calling them the slug liner A as that was their original slug liner they came out with before the Superior liners.
Sorry I can't post a picture
The liner has
FX STX Slug. 25 TR 1:16 Art no:20659 700mm PID 22897
on the liner.
My original slug liner A has a piece of shrink tube that says Slug A on it.

Exactly this part no. But I think the colloquial use of "slug a" is because it's the same exact twist rate and as this post stands as proof. It's confusing to many.

Heavy liner is 1:18. They updated the liners some time ago and the new “slug liner” (not slug A) is 1:16. They probably confused the old “Slug A” with the current “slug” liner. So to be clear, the current liners are STX with 1:24, Heavy with 1:18 and Slug with 1:16.

I have both 1/16 and 1/18 .25 600 mm
The 1/18 out shoots the 1/16 by far in fact just sold that liner.
Now 700mm 1/16 shoots better than the 1/18 go figure
I'm also shoting 30-32g AeA slugs and 32g H&Ns 950-980

I've had the Opposite experience. The 1/16 in 600 for me was an absolute scalpel
I think it depends on weight. Beyond 33gr 1:16 will probably outshoot 1:18 no matter what. At least statistically, meaning not taking into account FX liner lottery. Below 33gr it’s a 50/50 and depending on liner luck IMHO.

I was just typing a response. You hit on a point

Aside from "getting a good one". There are so many minor variables that can change the experience. I think I got considerably lucky. HN, Zan, Varmint knockers, heavy mk2, hades are all absolute lasers from it stx slug liner. Other slugs it shoots like absolute manure. Some very popular slugs. I really wish fx would make liners tailored to different bore sizes. In .25 I can not get any accuracy at all unless it's a definite .250" for my situation the lighter NSA offerings would've been ideal but all the short 26-29.5 are in .249 and fly like absolute crap.
The liner lock tightness, how you got to your velocity, harmonics.. all impact the barrels capabilities.i found that 1:16 handled a wider variety than "heavy' liner. . Always assume the caveat "that's just my experience" comes with my statements unless I offer a direct challenge or refutation.

Personally I do like what .25 offers in energy. But I do regret that I didn't choose a .22.

It’s funny, the slugs you list are the ones my 1:16 loves as well. HN HP II, VK, Zan 33, HN being the one true love. Also doing ok with NSA 29 and 33/34. The AEA 30.2 are crazy accurate up to 50y and fall completely apart after that for me. Maybe I’ll have to play with speed a bit more for these. In terms of pellets it lasers AEA 25 and 33 as well as hades. MK II not so much. Funny how individual this crap is.

Zan 30 (prefers old type but new is good as well)
But H&N HP1 30 are the absolute best performer. Hands down it's one hole every time. Even slow. 890 and it doesn't matter distance. I point. I shoot. "THWAP". EVERY single time. HP 2 perform as well as zan 30s if I go 2 grains lighter it falls apart completely. HP1 .250 30, old zan .250 30 , hp2 .250 30, new ZAN 30 in order of performance. All of them are 1.2min or better. But hp1 shoot pellet accurate. VK 34s too group very well also.

Switching over to the 700mm 1/16 i noticed that I have to shoot 2-3g heavier slugs.
As stared 30g aea are real accurate but i went to the 32g at 75yds nickel size groups
H&N 32g same thing 3rd was the Jsb ko33g all .250
I also noticed 600vs 700 you don't need to send at 980
920-930 seems to be the sweet spot.
1/16 in 700mm .25 definitely more accurate than the 1/18.
But in 600mm my 1/18 is better than the 1/16 go figure

I should have taken a picture of mine before I left the shop. In Ireland, I have to add this to the FAC before I can leave the shop. given the time of year I suspect it could be 5 weeks before I get it back.

I forget AGN is worldwide.

WOW that's a long wait !

I think you will be happy with it when you get it !

Ahh yes, because the liner turns it from a toy into a lethal killing machine! Same length. Different twist. Everyone knows the projectile spinning a full rotation 33% faster adds 666% more lethality. I'm sorry you must deal with such insane bureaucracy.

Official shocked face here....5 weeks for a lousy liner?
5 weeks is waiting on the variation on my fire arms licence. Normally 3-4 weeks but with Christmas period round the corner it will be longer.

The liner is in the shop I have already bought it just not allowed it until the barrel is added to my licence

Yeah I know that just being a PIA. I live in a state that is just a few steps removed from jackassary.
