FX FX IMPACT M4 barrel liners 700mm

I have an FX M4 sniper 700mm barrel. It has the standard stock barrel 1:24 twist. I have been reading that I need to change the barrel to a heavy barrel to shoot slugs. There seems to be 2 types on the market 1:18 twist and 1:16 twist.

Obviously 1:16 will have more of a twist. Can someone please tell me the difference this would have compared to the 1:18 twist.

Hoping to upgrade this weekend

Had both In .25. the 1:16 runs circles around the 1:18
The 1:16 shoots Heavy mk2s like lasers, runs Hades very well. And many slugs 30gr and heavier are fantastic.
seems to run H&N slugs and Zan's the best for me.

I had the .25 1:18 liner it was accurate but not as accurate as the 1:16 liner.

The 1:16 700mm liner is very accurate with the H&N 40gr heavy slugs and the 40gr Javelin slugs @ 970 to 985fps

It also shoots the H&N 42, 44, and 46 gr. Heavy slugs.
What reg pressure are you shooting these at.

Have you any other modifications. I’m going to the gun shop on Saturday to buy a barrel and thinking of upgrading to an 8g hammer.

How many shots do you get out of the tank with the heavier slugs ?

Currently I’m shooting pellets which are accurate to 50yards. But I want to shoot twice that distance at a minimum.

I have bought 26gr slugs from zan which I haven’t tried yet. But reading posts on the barrels I think these slugs might be a bit light.

If we're talking .25 cal
Those 26gr slugs arent going to group. At all.

You need to be at 30gr at least. I personally couldn't find any slugs grouping well from the superior. From the superior 1:24 and 1'16 the 26 and 28gr slugs were pointless. They shotgunned. Pellets should be extremely accurate far past 50y.
From the 1:16 incredible performance from Zan 30gr and a higher. As well as HN HP slugs .250". Don't bother with .249"

If you're talking about .22 I know of a slug that will group as good as pellets from even the 1:24 liner. Griffin LDC 17-19grs

I have the regulator @150bar on my M3, that gives me up to 50 shots from 580cc of air, shooting the 40gr slugs.
I didn't change any settings to shoot the 42,44 or 46gr slugs I just shot them slower.
I found the 40gr to be perfect for my needs.
I have installed the tungsten hammer weight, carbon fiber barrel sleeve and barrel tensioning kit.

My DRS 25 700 also has the 1:16 liner w/carbon fiber barrel sleeve.

It is also a tack driver with the H&N and Javelin 40gr slugs @980 + fps
I have a DRS 22/700 I'm sending 19 and 21gr griffin LDCs at 1100 and 1025 with unbelievable precision.

As far as .25 1:16. I have a dreamline tac with double plenum and a slug power kit brings it from 54fpe gun to 62.5fpe (at 135bar) ,haven't maxed it out yet.

At 135bar, I'm shooting 30gr zan .250"s and HN HP 1 and 2 .250s at 950fps getting inch or better grouping at 100 on a lead sled. Mechanically that liner really boosts the slug capability. The way it shoots 34gr mk2s is insane. Absolute perfection.

135-138 bar, 19 on the 23 position wheel. Getting 950fps or roughly 62fpe. On a 500cc bottle I'm getting 75~ shots. From 250-140

With it set at 130-133 16 on the wheel I can shoot them at 890 and get 95 shots per fill

What speed are you sending the ZAN 30gr? They seem to be very sensitive to speed out of my 1:16 liner (700mm). 995 or 980 fps seems to be best for me but did only go up to 1020, which was ok but not as good as a little slower. H&N 34 grain as well as varmint knockers are even better in mine but like to have a little lighter option as well.

Edit: should have scrolled down all the way :) seems your sending them a little slower, too so thanks for the confirmation bias.

My absolute best results for accuracy come at 889 average fps. But I'm getting minute groups from 950. Short impulse as possible. Higher pressure lightest stroke of the hammer as possible. I'm using a heavy power tuning spring with a stock hammer. My internal hammer spring screw is only 2.5 or 3 rotations in.

I tried the heavier hammer but the efficiency wasnt great. When I took out the 13.5 and replaced it with the stock 11.5gr hammer. Things got good

Thanks!! Will try them sub 900!! The M4 stock hammer is already freaking light, I had a tungsten on it but swapped back as well… to violent for 132ish reg.

How often are you running patches. It seems excessive. But I run patches every 80-120 shots. Keeps the accuracy high
Ha! Same! Depends on what I shoot I guess cause I also shoot pellets through it a lot and I don’t keep count, but the very first flier and I’ll run dry patches. I lightly polished and heavily waxed the liner and it’s a laser with the pellets/slugs I shoot through it so the moment something doesn’t go where it’s supposed to it’s cleaning time. 2 dry patches (double patched on patch worm), one from each side of the breach, and good to go again. Wet patches and/or bore snake (without brush) only if it doesn’t come back after the 2 dry patches.
