FX fx impact m4 first 10 shots are slow

Put nearly a 1000 pellets through my Fac Mk4 and still the same problem. It has been back to the dealer / UK importer 3 times and even they are at a loss. The one thing I would say is that the accuracy is still brilliant. FX need to understand what QC stands for. Hope they read this..... highly unlikely they will take any notice!!!!!

What ppl don't understand is this is quite normal for all impacts. Not just the m4. This topic been posted like at least once a week lol. I own the mk2 and m3 and also have same problem. The slower shots is due to 2 things. One it's reg creep up. My my mk2 it's 5 bar creep. On my m3 its 10 bar creep. When pressure creep you get slower shots cause hammer have to work harder to open valve. The 2nd reason why shots are slow is valve rod sticking. You need to remove it and polish and clean it.

When I had an m3 I tuned my max sweet spot velocity with the macro wheel set on 12-13. That way when I shot the gun cold I could put it on 16, giving it extra hammer strike to overcome the stiction. Wasn’t perfect but it did make the first slow shots not nearly as bad. Big design flaw of the platform that I don’t think will ever be addressed. With the length of the valve rod in the gun I’m not sure it’s even possible to eliminate for good.

hello

so i have an issue regarding my M4 first 10 shots are lower fps by almost 80 fps
then the gun shoots normally to my tuned fps ( 915 ) looks like it’s commonly issue with many m4 users .
when the gun rests for couple hours i have to shoot almost 10 shots before it settles again
any one having same issue?
if yes what did u do ?
It's an FX....get used to it..

I just got an M4 this week and didn't believe this was possible but am having the same issue. I've had dozens of Impacts throughout the years and don't ever remember any of them having this problem - at least not to this degree. It's pretty commonly known (and somewhat accepted) that the first shot or two after sitting idle for some time can be low but I've never had an Impact take 10 shots to warm up.

My tune is similar to the OP's (shooting 0.25 26.54g Hades at ~920fps). When I went to shoot it this morning, here were the first 11 shots:

844fps
844fps
865fps
590fps (user error - double fed pellet)
877fps
881fps
885fps
888fps
891fps
891fps
891fps

At that point, the string leveled out and I started messing with the settings. It was also interesting that the fps settled in at 891 whereas the last two shots from the night before was at 929fps. This is only day 3 with the M4 so I'm still playing around with it but it is really perplexing that the first 10 shots would be 60-80fps lower than normal. Hopefully this is just a breaking in issue that will improve with more use but if it's not, this would be really aggravating because there was absolutely nothing wrong with my 0.25 M3 that I "upgraded" from...

Will play with the M4 some more and see what happens.

And guys will just keep buying them then come here to complain. Are guys now trying to win the $2,000 valve stiction lottery? The info is out there gentlemen, this is what happens when you put your wants over the facts.
I send Mathias(Airbuks) that now works for FX a message about it. Even showed the part that @mubhaur has made.

He didnt reply sadly, I really love my Impact now with since it doesnt have the slow shot anymore. I hope FX fixes this one day, but we can only hope for now.

Its a shame a $2000 airgun has this problem, I'm looking for an Uragan 2 now. That looks like a tank.

Come on now - no need for the holier-than-thou attitude here. Sooner or later, I was going to get the M4 so it was only a matter of time. Having discovered this issue and reading up on it since, it does seem like enough people have this issue that it's a known thing now . . . but it's also not the case that EVERY M4 has this ailment. So, yes, the information was out there but it's not like it was so rampant that every buyer was going to have this problem so even if I had read about it prior to today, I still would've bought an M4 anyways.

Most of us have suffered through the debate of whether or not to be early adopters/beta testers for new releases but you figure that the 4th iteration of a hugely popular model wouldn't have such a basic problem but here we are. Does it suck? Yes. Should we have to deal with it on a $2000+ rifle? No. Can it be fixed relatively easily? It seems so. Will it prevent me from buying another FX product for the rest of my life? Probably not.

I've gotten to know my M3's pretty well but have never had to strip it down to the point of needing to remove/clean the valve rod. So while this is certainly not ideal by any stretch of the imagination, this will give me the chance to get to know the Impact at a deeper level. I've been bored with my air rifles for the last year anyways - this will give me something to do this weekend.

In the meantime, fix your sh!t, FX...this shouldn't be happening with one of your flagship models. Not everyone is willing to tear down their brand new $2k rifle just to make it work as it should out of the box.

The Mubhaur part or Peek disc definitely help the gun (I use both on all my Impacts) but they still aren’t the complete cure. My one Impact that still wears a mostly factory barrel has to be tuned a certain distance below the plateau for its best most consistent accuracy with slugs. I still experience around 4 slower shots until it’s on cruise control after the gun sits for a while. Because I can’t give up the accuracy of those settings I just turn my wheel up two clicks for the first shot then one for my second.

As far as a Uragan goes, well they and others in that class are what an airgun should be. I bought one about 6 months ago. Took some measurements, decided on the slug then tested two speeds. Done. Haven’t touched anything, including the scope turrets since. Whole different animal. The Impact is like a hot girlfriend. You put up with a lot of sh#t because she’s so hot. The Eastern European guns are the attractive to you wife for life guns.

He now works for FX?? I wonder why? Cause he made a couple of parts bolt on vids? He never struck me as a true tech for their guns. I know of two true techs that should still be employed by FX but got let go due to the FXUSA fiasco.

With the QC and functional complaints, I think FX really needs to look into their staff and who they hire. Who they need to hire besides the two that lost their tech positions is that sub 12 guy, John. That guy not only knows airgun innards and their workings, he’s articulate, and covers all the little details in their entirety. Great hand skills

He does the FX videos / marketing now since the drama that happend with FX USA. He is a really chill person, but everything is pure FX now.

This is Ernest his response when a person asked him about the first cold shots. This is brutal.

I just shot my impact on with the chrony, first shot was exact 10 FPS lower. Second shot and third are 945 FPS which I tuned my Impact for.

I can probably tune the 10 FPS out, but im not chasing the 10 FPS.

Just a note for a comment above. Not everyone has a chrono so may not be aware of the issue. And if they shoot 24/30/40 yards might never know.

I don’t think 50 FPS at that distance would be noticeable in terms of POI.
For people that hunt at longer distances a first shot is a crucial one. For me its not a problem, since I cannot hunt in Belgium with airguns due the laws.

If you have a $2000 gun and cannot trust the first shot, its a shame.

I wonder what Matt Dubber does at long distance shots, dry fire 10 times before shooting a monkey?
