If I get an Impact M4 and a Caliber-Change kit to shoot both .30 and .22, does it matter which caliber rifle I buy initially and which caliber I buy for the Caliber-Change kit? Are the internal springs, etc the same for both caliber Impacts?

I currently have a .30/.22 Maverick. Shoots great, but thinking about “upgrading” to an Impact.

Thanks

I might just keep the Maverick for one caliber and get the Impact for the other.
Best idea ever!! I bought into the whole barrel and or caliber change pitch. More trouble than it is worth.
I don‘t know about others, but once I have a gun tuned and sighted in messing with it is the last thing I want to do.

Previous posters are correct. The internals are the same from .177 to .30. However once tuned nicely for one caliber the tune will have to be completely changed for the other. Especially with a jump from .22 to .30 or vice versa. As far as the .35 I wouldn’t assume it would even be possible for it to tune down to some of the smaller calibers effectively. I would only buy that gun with .35 being the focus.

So, I’m a big believer in the Easy Tune system from “Shooting with Phil”. Keep the Maverick! You get almost the same thing as the Impact 4, except for the valve adjustment screw, bigger plenum and WAY easier to tune!
Oh, and the cost is $130!

Thanks. My Maverick has been easy to tune. My best accuracy so far is in 30 caliber with the 44.8 FX pellets at 890 fps.

I might end up buying a second Maverick instead of a M4. Lots of reasons to stick with what I have. The only things that bugs me a bit sometimes about the Maverick/Wildcat is the loud hammer noise at high power tunes. I don’t know if the Impact has the same noise with its different internal setup.

I'd second going with a 2nd Maverick, you have one, you know it, you know how to fix it and tune it. The loud hammer noise is because it's right under your ear, either get a regular gun, not a bull pup or wear ear plugs. But I do agree when pumped up a bit they can be loud. I'm not sure I'll ever part with my Mavericks.

If i were in your situation, I would keep the Maverick on .30 and leave it as is, and get the impact in .22. My reason is, unless you hunt frequently, otherwise .30 in Maverick will be parked most of the time, ammo is more expensive and way less variety in pellet/slug options. Keep the bigger caliber on the least use gun for the rare occasion for when you really need to sling heavy projectiles.

With the Impact in .22, you have a ton more ammo options to choose from, different weight and shape of the pellets or slugs, you can play with the new gun a lot more frequently, with cheaper ammo so you get to shoot more. The impact is so easy to tune you can practically shoot 11gr wadcutter pellets to 23gr slugs or 25gr AEA pellet right out of the box, at 50+ ft-lb on tap all day all night every single day, without the need to upgrade anything like the power slug kit, heavy liner or any other jazz, those upgrades would be more beneficial for heavier slugs between 27~40gr IMO. The M4 is a super versatile and fun gun to shoot. But If you intend to run the Impact in upper power range above 70~80ft-lb, then go for longer barrel in 700mm, and as you up the reg pressure above 130+ bar, the heavier hammer will be needed.

I appreciate that. I might end up with the Impact eventually, but I just stumbled across a slightly used .22 Dynamic Express 500 at a very low price. So my plans have changed for now. I hope it ends up being a good pellet gun.
