N/A FX Impact M4 or something else?

the iguana hunters mags are nice for 40 each. you can get colors.
his are the best other than stock ones imho
they are 3d printed but I have yet to have one fail. I only have stock mags and his.
I was worried to get the aluminum ones. I didn't want them scratching my gun by chance.
I was going to try the Orion mag, but the lid is covering the pellets and can't tell how many shot left, the etsy one is visible and can see all the pellets loaded so i went with those instead. The Eagle Vision aluminum mag has stronger spring tension for slugs but pellets are working fine, it's rock solid and i love it, but the plastic or 3d printed one should work just fine.

Received two spare magazines today from Etsy, they're $40 for two, the magnetic cover held on very tight, takes a bit of prying to get it open.

The spring tension is also a lot stronger than the OEM one, but it can be little finicky to fit into the gun slot at first if not aligned properly, take some getting used to. They are not bad as spares, certainly far cheaper than any other mags out there, no pellet jamming or anything like that.

There is no refresh time on the M4 since the reg is deleted. on the M3 there is. you can hear the plenum fill back up after every shot. it takes about 1 second. it never bothered me. however, I bet speed shooters delete the first reg.

make tiny adjustments at a time.
the number one thing about tuning and this goes for any air gun. all different bands and especially weights pellets and slugs like to go a specific speed. I would advise listening and reading about which pellets and which slugs like what speed. after you find that then you can worry about actually tuning it to be the most efficient on air usage per shot.
Myself I (on a new tune mind you and I test a new pellet slug without moving anything to see where it's at):
before starting unscrew the valve out past line 4 or just at, under the barrel
1. get the speed that's designed for that projectile.
2. then work a tune where the big wheel is sitting on the 8. this one make 10-20ish fps jumps
3. then use the little tiny wheel to make tiny adjustments per click. this is usually like 2 fps difference or so. go over a little bit like 10 fps of your target fps with this one.
4. then use the valve under the barrel screw it inward like a little bit at a time until the fps drops to the desired fps or when the group size shrinks to its smallest like no more than 1/8th to a 1/4 per then shoot a 5 shot group. ( you will notice the gun gets really quiet and this is when you are at your most efficient for that projectile.

It's actually very easy. it takes time which is part of the fun for the people that own Impacts.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. DO NOT START TUING OR MESSING WITH ANYTHING WHEN YOU FIRST GET IT SINCE YOU'RE NOT USED TO IT. THAT THING SHOULD BE SHOOTING LIGHT OUT RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

fx tunes each caliber from the factory for a specific jsb pellet size. Look that up and get that pellet brand and weight even call FX and ask, they will tell you. if you do that you will be really happy with it right out of the box. for the .25 it's the 25grain. that weight using JSB, FX, AA or AEA pellets should be lights out at 50 - 100 yards. if not it's your ammo, for sure.

PS: you do not need an aftermarket silencer with it. the one that's included is super quiet.
This sounds like great advice, from someone with lots of Impact experience!

Thanks much 🤩😇

Only thing I added to the new M4 is the Hawke scope and a laser sight for second/different range so i could switch from say 10 yard to 20 yard on the fly without adjusting anything. I'll keep the setup as light and agile as possible so I won't even add bi-pod or any other accessories.

What a beautiful work of art!
I keep telling myself that I do NOT need another rifle, then you post pictures like this!
My indecisiveness is working overtime....again!

The OEM buttstock is hard and not comfortable for those extra long shooting session, i bought some CRESTWOOD (2-Pack) Universal Recoil Pad from Amazon for $35, it has gel padding for extra cushioning, like having lazyboy type comfort for my shoulder LOL

It fits better with the OEM buttstock removed

I also received the DonnyFL Sumo for my Avenge X, out of curiousity I tried it on the M4, sounds about the same as the stock one, the Sumo dropped the POI a bit lower and it's much bulkier. It works better on my .25 Avenge X to tame the bark than on .22 M4.

Needless to stay, the stock moderator went back on to the M4!

Tuning for NSA 23gr slugs, have 2165, 217, and 2175 to play with. My barrel doesn't like 2165 regardless of speed (900, 920, 940, 980, or 1000) so i wont' use it for this M4. 217 is okay but 2175 worked best at 940~950s

Slug transfer port
Reg - 120 bar
Valve - a hair over line 4
Micro - 3.5

Moving up the Micro to 4 netted ~1010fps, but the action is noisier..... louder hammer twang, just doesn't feel right. Tuning it down a little seems to tame it down and dampen the action noise, relatively small adjustment made quite a noticeable difference. Power curve wise it's pretty close to the knee.

Unable to validate the long range accuracy until i could take it out to the 100 yard range, will make adjustment as necessary.

An interesting note, at 49ft-lb of energy, the DonnyFL Sumo seems to help more in keeping the muzzle noise pitch lower than the stock FX moderator. But at sub 30ft-lb and lower, the FX mod works just fine. But i made a rookie mistake: was having so much fun shooting and tuning the M4 that i "accidentally" loaded the CHPH 14.gr mag with the above tune, the pellet is almost 10gr lighter....needless to say, it broke the sound barrier at ~1160fps and made a super loud cracking noise akin to someone shooting a pistol, don't think any moderator could tame the sonic boom, at least not with the Sumo. 😅

Vetmx convinced me to get the CF liner sleeve, it's only $29, a fraction of the cost of the gun so i went and got it from UA, received and installed/bonded it today. While I had the liner out, i ran a few patches to get it clean, the CF sleeve is super easy to install, no fitting issue or anything, the set went back into the barrel and shroud smoothly with no play or wiggle room, it's rigid. I kept the barrel nut snug and tight enough, but didn't over torque it. Overall it's a very basic and simple upgrade, going to have to re-zero it later on. I'm kinda suprised by how thin the liner is though, look like the metal straw i'd drank out of, but as long as it shoot straight i guess whatever. 😅

My M4 feel the most comfortable shooting up to around 55ft-lb with the stock hammer/spring and 600mm barrel (just confirmed my liner has a 1:24 twist rate), This M4 is primarily used for target shooting and small games, I don't have any need to push this M4 into the upper power range of ~80+ft-lb territory, don't even have a need to swap out the .22 to .25/30 either. The shot count would certainly go to poop at upper power level, and action noise will be annoyingly loud and violent, not exactly what I need or want out of this M4, it's very quiet and comfortable shooting everything from 11gr wadcutter pellets all the way up to 23~25gr slugs with the way it is now, unless circumstances change in the foreseeable future, otherwise I'll try to keep everything stock as is.

Edit: I'm not sure if the liner is directional or not, didn't notice any arrow or marking on it, i guess i must have installed it backward in the opposite direction, pellets had a bit of resistance chambering into the breech, i took it out and reverse the liner and everything is buttery smooth with zero resistance as before now. Just a small shift in POI, had to take a few shots to re-zero, so far so good.

After trying a few combination of tunes to shoot a wide range of pellets and slugs from my bone stock .22 M4 (CF sleeve is the only "mod" so far), I have settled on this "broad band" tune to cover everything from 14.3gr CPHP pellet all the way up to 25gr slugs or pellets.

Reg - 110 bar
Valve - line 4
Minimum Micro/Macro - 2.2/1
Maximum Micro/Macro - 3.7/16

I could switch back and forth between a variety of pellets and slugs on the fly with the Macro wheel alone now, the Micro was being set at the range of around 2.2 to 3.7 in conjunction with 110 bar reg for the broad spectrum coverage, and I could always dial down the valve on as needed basis.

14.3gr CPHP - Macro at 1 = 900~910fps
15.9gr Hades/FX Atomic - Macro at 4 = 930~940fps
18gr JSB - Macro 6 = 900~910fps
20gr NSA slug - Macro 12 = 960~970fps
22gr FX Hybrid - Macro 15 = 970~980fps
25gr AEA pellet or NSA/Knockout slugs - Macro 16 = 910~920fps

50ft-lb is as far as I would feel comfortable pushing the M4 as my "daily driver". I have no need and no where to utilize the upper power band potential in 70~80ft-lb territory. Not at all being tempted by the big powar being advertised and glamorize by youtubers, i tuned my M4 to suit my own need and usage, don't have any desire or the need to sling super heavy 40gr slugs either.

For backyard pesting, either the 15.9gr Hades/Atomic or the 22gr Hybrid have way more than enough oomph, for backyard target shooting i use the dirt cheap 14.3gr CPHP, won't feel guilty to plow through 250 to 500 rounds in one day either. Still waiting for Griffin LDC slugs that I've ordered in 17, 19, 21, and 23gr in both 217 and 218, this current tune will certainly cover them.
