FX FX Impact M4 - Velocity consistency?

When you let the gun sat overnight, have the velocity changed in the following day?

Not sure about hate, but i think it seems like some people trying to paint a grime picture of the impact and made it seems like it's a very unreliable and simply unusable for hunting.

This dude (from Australia i think) seems to be able to use his M3 very effectively for hunting all day and all night long:

No, i had to dial down the micro wheel a few clicks to drop it down. Today i dialed it down even further! closer to 900, the beginning when the bottle is full at 250 bar is giving me the same velocity as when i ran it down to 70 bar, close to 900fps for the CPHP.

I'm also playing with the NSA slugs as we speak, switching the transfer port on the barrel from P to S for slugs, the versatility of these Impact never seize to amaze me, can easily go from 14gr pellet shooting even at super low power (i was playing with 750fps at 18ft-lb earlier) or crank up the reg to 120~130 bar, tweak both Macro/Micro wheel and the valve to shoot 23gr NSA slugs at 1000+ fps with 51ft-lb of energy, the transition in power can be done rather quickly within minutes, with the standard STX barrel, no power slug kit, or heavy slug liner and tungsten hammer necessary, but i probably should do some research on those upgrade for slugs above 33gr.
I’m not picking or trying to sound condescending but it’s very hard to communicate open minded with a person who is so enamored with videos. If you literally hang out with those guys, different story. You would then be privy to what really goes on before they push play. And what goes on afterwards.

There are just as many, if not MORE people (video or otherwise) who could hunt just fine with the impact. They didn't let the cold shot symptom stopped them from hunting with it, did they?

To be fair, I don't know anyone here in this forum in person either, I don't mean no disrespect but the truth is....you and everyone else (youtuber or not) are just as much of a stranger to me, with as much credit as everybody else out there!

If the video is edited to show the name of the gun or scope or whatever in large font along with a bunch of advertising poses, someone is making money. It’s genius marketing. Exotic locations with an abundance of exotic pests and never a miss. At least 70% of new impact buyers at UA want it “tuned to shoot just like Gerhard’s”.

It's a given most of them didn't and wouldn't show the mishap, or botched shot, everybody missed the target at some point, be it due to miscalculation or simply slipped.

But we aren’t driven by fame or money. Could actually really give a poop about any of it. Just like to get the most out of a gun and not lie to ourselves because we spent X amount of money. But it was discussed in another topic before your time by a guy @Centercut. It’s about standards. And that’s how we get turned around and have disagreements. Your dream spectacular gun could be my nightmare. What I require out of a gun to call it great is not what Bob needs to call a gun great. Thats why we just need to chill and talk. Take everything in and use it or not to find happiness in your lane. But referencing YouTube vidiots is like sitting in front of your family doctor using what you saw on a hospital drama the night before against him. Carries zero weight. It could be 50% fiction.

I agree with the above, but feel enthusiasm shouldn’t be dampened as reality will have its say… Compromises are made in many endeavors, this is hobby to most, so it is important to remember that it is just that, a “hobby”. Me personally? I am not a group shooter, but have posted some “cherry picked” groups. I mainly use my PCPs sub 60 yards for pesting and plinking. I value first round hits at various yardages as opposed to tiny groups at the same distances. I simply am the weak link and lack consistency after a few groups on paper… Luckily for me and unlucky for them, most pests allow me that one shot…😈🙈

Youtubers aside, you started this thread with a question and reported that your M4 had the first shot blues and needed a 70bar tune bandaid. Obviously a number of us have been in that situation and responded accordingly, only to be labeled as hating the platform. That said, I understand the frustration. You’ve bought a Ferrari and found out that it doesn’t run above 2000rpm. It’s a whole lot of sunk cost fallacy. Again, we’ve been there, sold em’ and bought something that works or found a way to fix em’. The good thing about an M3 or 4 is that you won’t lose much money if you sell it and get a BRK Ghost (which seems like a good fit for your needs). There’s an endless stream of rabid customers with their vision clouded by YT videos of monkey heads exploding at 150 yards.

Not every youtube video footages you saw were of paid/endorsed or for monetary gain, there are so many footages that are simply from fans showing and sharing their hunting experience or sessions, many of them have low subscribers and don't have any advertisement or trying to sell anything. youtube is just another format and community for people to share, it isn't reserved only for the SA boys and the like to promote and sell something, there are many of them showing step by step replacing parts as well. YOUR experience (or mine or anyone else) in forum isn't any MORE credible or valuable than the next Joe Nobody who are simply out trying to share their experience, it's just a reference point for some of us, but somehow they are being accused of being on FX payrolls or trying to sell something, as if only YOUR experience matters and theirs are being dismissed as fiction or idiots, double standard much ?

Don't get me wrong, i'm not against anybody pointing out and bring attention to any design flaws or issues being found, it is very much needed to raise awareness so the manufactuerer or engineer hopefully would make some changes and correction. i completely agreed that there's no such thing as one size fit all perfect gun, something worked for you may not work for me at all. Most of us frown upon something being glamorized, but the same can be said for the other way around when someone is sending misleading signals, anybody trying to portray the FX impact as an unusable and unreliable tool for hunting due to personal preference or incompetency is utterly dishonest and downright misleading fake news!!

I came across just as many clueless impact owners who did some reckless wild things to their toys, like the dude who set his reg to 220 bar few months ago because he wanted exploding birds! then end up having leaking issue and reg problem. 😅

In regards to the 70 bar bandaid, it could be just a temp fix but at least i'm not seeing the same issue anymore, not sure if it would come back when i ran up the reg to 120~130 bar to keep it there for heavier pellets and slugs

Based on the small poll result, at least there's 70% voted that they are getting the same velocity without the symptoms.

I take a look at the BRK Ghost, the 11 shot count magazine in .22 and 10 shot magainze in .25 is going to drive me nuts, any PCP with less than 15 shots magazine will go straight into my blacklist to be avoided at all cost, doesn't matter how accurate, reliable, or consistent they are.

Defending YouTubers like a man would defend his wife is just something I can’t grasp. So it’s best to move on. Just know that from my perspective and probably a lot of others on this forum, linking a YouTube video to lend credit to your side of a disagreement is really no different than linking a picture of a fat guys butt crack at Walmart. We just want to get the most out of our guns and help each other with issues. Most of us don’t care how we need to appear to get views. If we screw up and make mistakes, nobody cares next week.

I could see now why you and some other were being labeled as "haters"

Clearly, you're very proud and quick to dismiss everyone else credibility other than yours, simply because someone else shared their experience on youtube, a medium that you deemed unworthy and have a very negative view of, no matter who shared it, if they had it on youtube, then it must be another "walmart buttcrack" or FX endorsed salesman. 🙄

You ARE putting down others in order to elevate your own credibility. Sorry, ain't buying it, whatever snake oil you're selling. This sort of straw man mentality with a crooked view and fallacy ain't never going to fly. Thanks for showing your true color quickly, i know who NOT to take seriously moving forward. :)

The poll result is the only "perspective" matters to me, everything else is just hot air:

Shot count is seriously “overrated” I personally dislike the huge magazines sticking out of some guns… As for the BRK Ghost? Mine is da bomb, but then again so is my Atomic and Pathfinder… Simply a sweet, on point trio… Zero drama…

Did FX copied BRK design? the Ghost look awfully similar to the Impact, or is it the other way around where BRK copied the Impact? It does looks great but I just can't stand any gun with low capacity mags, it's a personal preference thing.

Understood, but as I stated super high cap mags sticking out of a gun…? Effing with the symmetry? Simply a non starter. We aren’t going to war. I’ve taken many pests. My fifty rat nights? A single shot pp700sa… You don’t have to “defend” “your” choice, simply have fun, brother…

Crap, you got me. I know nothing about PCP’s. I was just trolling. Credibility? For what, this is just a forum for guys who share a common interest. Not too concerned about my credibility. You can learn a ton here with zero credibility.

These folks obviously had you in mind:

That's what I'm talking about!! LOL I'll have to research them and do some digging/reading, I will never sell the M4, nothing else out there that I really need at the moment, BRK Ghost could potentially be something I would add to the collection someday, especially when high capacity mag is available!

i just saw the price, damn.....another uber expensive PCP, what is it with all these new PCP cost well over $2K!? Thanks for the suggestion and previous inputs though!

Another one I'm waiting, anticipating, and observing the new Snowpeak Max 1, looks like a great value slug gun, sort of the M60B/Zelos on steroid, hopefully it'll be released in $699 price point or somewhere around there.

I am trying to learn from EVERYONE and gather as much information as i could, be it from forums like this, or reading up on Reddits, or from personal friends, and yes....even from facebook group AND youtube.

I valued everyone's technical inputs, and very much appreciative of it, but blanket statements? not so much.

I must admit that I didn’t get the sense that you valued technical inputs. Rather the opposite, as evidenced by the “measurebator” comments and associated rants. You might want to tone that down..

I have seen enough people obsessed with chasing down that extra 1fps ES/SD to loose sleep over it and keep tuning and retuning, hence the measurebator, which I was also guilty of sometime, to go after certain meaningless number that make very little to no difference in real world situation.

Don't get mixed up technical inputs with biased opinions, they aren't the same. Like wise, dial back your condescending tone and name calling insult ("endless stream of rabid customers" as you put it), you aren't any better than anyone else.... the double standard shenanigan isn't going to fly.
