FX FX impact M4 velocity “warm up”

I’m wondering if someone can shed some light on this question.

I’ve recently got an FX Impact M4 .22 700mm with slug power kit installed, heavy liner, carbon sleeve etc.

If the rifle has been resting (but is room temperature) I notice it takes a good 10-15 shots for the velocity to get to where I tuned it (1000 fps)

I’m shooting 34gr slugs, at the beginning of the first few shots from resting overnight the chronograph will show it starts at around 890fps, then by about its 15th shot it’s got back to where I tuned it to at around 990-1000 fps and works like a laser, I would expect a few shots to be sluggish to awaken the air system up, but 15 seems a lot to me.

Maybe there’s a solution or maybe it’s normal..?

What’s everyone’s experience?

My settings are - 165 reg pressure, macro 13, micro 3.5, valve 4 lines.

Thanks all

Well, for starters you don't need the slug power kit for that weight, secondly I think your reg pressure is too high. But let's assume I'm full of it, it could be that your hammer or valve is sticking and needs to get loosened up a bit. I'm not the least bit familiar with the M4 but there should be a way to get close enough to the hammer to squirt a bit of TriFlow in there, it won't hurt anything and may solve your issue. And NO silicon oil isn't a lubricant.

1-3 shots to warm it back up is normal. But 15? Wtf. Yeah I'm gonna dry fire 15 rounds and scared all the critters in the area after that lmao. Either your reg needs a rebuild or polish your valve rod so it will slide smoothly. It's not normal to fire 15 shots to get back to normal. Usually 1-3 shots will get you back.

I could only guess you need a heavier hammer
Hi, I’ve already got the heavier hammer installed as part of the FX power kit the latest power kit just has a hammer replacement heavier hammer now & not the weighted spacers that used to slot on the original hammer.

Maybe a reduction in my reg pressure from 165 to say 150ish might help as the hammer won’t have to hit the valve as hard ??

I can tell you I have shot the H&N 27gr HP2s from my M3 600mm STX liner @ 970 with great success and no slow shots, bone stock with reg set 135bar macro 16 micro just under 4 and 4.5 lines on the valve adjuster.
Hi, yeah I may bleed the system and try a lower reg pressure at around 140 and slowly turning it up if needed. I’m wondering if the hammer is having to work to hard to hit the value, I guess there’s only 1 way to find out 👍

Yeh it’s 10-15 shots, but I’ve only had the rifle 3 weeks it’s only had about 400 slugs through it, I wouldn’t have thought a reg rebuild & polish would be required at such an early stage.

Here the chronograph results from an overnight room temperature rest, (over 2x strings as pictured)

26 shots so almost a full magazine !

This is the only reliable solution for me
Hi,

What a great idea 💡👍

This looks like the perfect solution to me & it would be a straightforward swap too if you made them with the o-rings in place.

Do you sell these ? Is so how much are they including shipping to the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 ?

I’m really interested in purchasing one 👍

In paintball this is referred to as 'first shot drop off'. It is a very common problem with spool valve paintball guns. (Lots of Orings) Paintball manufacturers have changed the setting in their electronics to compensate for this problem. Cold weather can make the issue worse.
There have been a few threads lately about FX Orings. I would break the gun down (as far as you are comfortable with) and clean and re-lube any Orings on moving parts with a DOW 33 based lubricant.
The more Orings you have... the more 'stiction' you will experience.

I keep wanting to contact this fella, just don't want to deal with the overseas shipping/ payment stuff.
I have his part in my Impact. If tuned correctly the first slow shots are gone. I was about to sell my Impact due the warm up shots.

I cannot hunt in my country with it, but I want to take my Impact and have fun without warming up.

Hey all,i have same issue of warmup shots with my M4 Compact, polished and lubed like 15-20 parts internals, tuned it aswell,i found if i put pressure lower than 115 bars, warming shots become almost no existant maybe 1-3,but if u keep the reg under 115 bars, and put huma 7.5gr or higher hammer, warming shots are gone.Im gonna get the plenum part soon from mr M from forum,as i want to crank some uppet reg pressures for slugs cause compact needs higher pressure,i also had reg creep before i polished reg piston, now ot goes 2-4 bars overnight and settles there, huma is next on my list...
