FX FX Impact M4 Won't Cock

@Airgunmann,

I was given a heads up by one of the forum bros regarding some...historical conversations, and would like to apologize if you felt like I was stomping on your toes. 😬

In the grand scheme of things I am still pretty new here compared to a lot of other members, and I have a habit of saying before knowing.
Don't worry about it its all good im not mad.

I see your point as well some times I get carried away and need to be checked lol

I like FX, the Royale was the finest airgun ever built in my estimation. I've not had too many others until I recently bought a Dream Tac Compact, and it is fantastic. I have read a lot of bashing of FX and really didn't know what to think of it. I kind of have the "uninformed" opinion that they are moving way too fast in bringing new guns to market. I base that on the "look around" theory that no one else is trying to do it that fast, and don't seem to have the amount of problems, just my take, could be wrong. I like FX airguns and will buy an Impact soon.

As to the reviewers, awh, I don't put too much credence in their reviews. They're mostly shills for the manufacturers. I wouldn't expect them to report on problems most of the time. I think it's a shame, because I'd rather them tell the story and how the manufacturer handled it. That would make me feel more comfortable about the company. On the other hand, I can see how an absolutely unreal problem can pop up and the manufacturer take care of it and know in their hearts that it is HIGHLY unllikely to ever pop up again, and not want to put the bad vibe out there. I will admit, that those times would be extremely rare. I just use most reviews to get a look at a gun, see how it works etc. I don't listen to their patter all that much, so I really don't care what they say or do.

I have stated before that I have owned a few brands of high-end guns and all were very good. I still own a few however I try not to criticize one brand over the other just because I prefer a different one. I will say most problems with air rifles (not all) is owner induced. people don't like to admit they made a mistake like turning knobs while the gun was cocked (hammer spring) or replacing a regulator because they seen a video that showed the (huma) as a for instance, was better and they could raise the pressure and get more power to shoot slugs ETC. Personally, All the guns I have owned have performed flawlessly out of the box and with a few years of owning them and getting a better understanding how to tune and operate them I have been more than satisfied with them. I wish you only happiness and success with whatever gun you guys choose to purchase. Happy shooting!

I have just had the worst experience yet with the FX M4. After the first few shots mine refused to cock. Second time out , same thing, and after some udjustments while on the phone to the FX Australia Rep , still failed. Decided to send it back to FX, contacted the FX dealer and told him it was at my gun shop ready for transport. He advised me via text that charges would apply if not warranty !!! 20 days later still no sign of the rifle, I asked my gun shop to check, and it was still in their safe as the FX dealer was disputing payment for transport!!! I paid the $75 tansportation fee and then he responds after I complain to the Gun shop I purchased it from. As it turns out it was a hair trigger set too low not allowing the gun to cock. Fixed under warranty, and I am still waiting to pick it up. In the meantime , the rats that are the target animal have eaten over $3000 worth of grain !!! Hoping it works when I get it back.

Time to consider getting a backup/second PCP airgun that isn't from FX, when one of them is out of commission at least you have another one to keep on shooting, even an Umarex Notos as backup is better than nothing, 18~20fpe is enough to kill rats up to 50~60 yard instant lights out.

Yes, the dealer I bought it from used to be my hero. Then they tried to charge me the return shipping on my defective M4. I couldn't believe it. You sell me defective product, then you want me to pay the shipping to return it to you? When I said something they were like "OK, we won't charge you", but the normal thing there is to charge the customer when they are sent a defective product. It's shamefull.

That's just one more reason to go through Pyramyd Air if your in the States. They don't ask questions when you go to return something, or do anything wierd. That's where I got my replacement.

The M3 manual that was included with the gun does not say how to do that.
I can't imagine why they sent an M3 manual. The trigger adjustment screws are detailed on page 20 of the M4 manual. There is not a schematic drawing, but based on the picture of the bottom of the trigger plate, it appears that they might have drawn on some of the design features of the Boss Match trigger, which I installed in my Royale. If so, it is a challenge to achieve a proper adjustment. Good luck. The only air rifles I have ever bought that needed no trigger adjustment as delivered were the two RAW rifles from Martin.

Hey guys. My new M4 was barely cocking and then about 20 shot in it stopped cocking all together. How would I fix that? Settings are as it came out of the box. Pictured below. Shooting 18.1 at 890 FPS. Not great groups at 38 yards with JSB and FX. Was about to try AEA but won't cock now. (also see mystery screw I found on Patio a few posts down).

Mine doing same thing it's just springing forward won't cock to even load a pellet and I paid $35 for a custom tune from Utah Airguns for the 25.39 grain Hades monsters hammer was on 5 and 115 reg when i got it why wouldn't they notice the cocking problem when they Tuned it. It did it first time cocking it and still doing it calling them tomorrow
