FX Fx impact m4

I remember a couple of years ago when FX would watch the forum and address concerns just like this. Too bad they've lost this contact with the customers.
And you'd think to that Utah Airguns would be monitoring the forum as well and giving a helping hand when needed. You know, being proactive.
I had an issue and FX replied. Don’t hold me to it, but I believe it was the dude who got fired for, well, let’s say being a stinker. I admire any manufacturer or rep who comes on a forum to try to help. It can involve thick skin because an angry dude armed with a keyboard really is something special to deal with. I know who still is on here backing their product. To me, that shows who truly believes in their product. Even I would be reluctant to try to defend something that has too many bullets flying at it. It would become a full time job.

Defending an Impact or trying to help customers on a forum would involve a lot of time. Partially because of the gun and partially because of the person who bought it. It would eventually wear you out or drive you insane.

Just stating the obvious:

Side plate:
1. The individual who drilled and tapped the side plate knew the holes were off center, and did NOT care.
2. The person who assembled the rifle knew the side plate holes were off center and did NOT care.

Grip:
1. The person assembling the rifle did NOT care they had the wrong length bolt, they just attached it to their powered driver and rammed it home without even aligning the wrong length bolt with the tapped hole.

FX:
1. The quality of your product is a direct reflection of the quality of your people.
2. The quality of your people is a direct reflection of the quality of your company.

UA:
1.This is NOT good for your business.

UA, because you have a vested interest in both FX and maintaining your good name, I advise:

1. Replace this rifle at no cost to the buyer.
2. Completely disassemble this rifle and:
a. Note every defect
b. Note every out of spec component
c. Note every mistake in assembly
3. Meet with FX Sweden and:
a. Determine how each of the above issues will be corrected going forward.
b. Establish a UA employee from the US as a representative at the FX factory who will ensure the agreed upon corrections are indeed being implemented.

Upon viewing the photos of this rifle, a manufacturing engineer agreed with me that the issues documented in the photos indicate a manufacturing process that is NOT controlled, NOT inspected, and NOT verified.

Wow this is wild. What I don't get is this wasn't a UA problem until they made it their problem by shoving it to the OP. I've had my issues with UA quite a few years ago and the owner resolved it for me. But seeing this still happen is very sad. I hope they get this straightened out. Again not a UA problem until they made it theirs.

And a $2000+ air rifle with holes that aren't centered and actually threaded into the side plate? Unacceptable. I was maybe considering a DRS Tactical in the future but if they allow this with their flagship model what do they let get by with a cheaper $1000 PCP?

What's odd is you mostly hear about issues with the M4 . And new PCP buyers still flock to them. Other FX products have problems on occasion, some other brands have occasional issues also. Some brands you rarely hear about factory defects or issues . I do like when a company rep shows up and tries to make things right. I would contact FX headquarters and ask for new parts to replace the defective ones and to fix the damage from improper assembly. If they don't fix it many will be passing on the FX brand .

FX should have much better QC plus a sheet with sign offs for inspection and a target with pellet weight and velocity , like many other manufacturers do . Mistakes happen but it's how you react to them that really matters .

When I had a problem with my Maverick the old repair center was all over it . They were great to deal with . Sad to hear how UA is handling this .

If it‘s their dream gun, topics like this don’t even register with them. The stuff they see in videos hypnotizes them and nothing else registers. Until reality hits. Guys will never stop buying them. Even if half of the consumers report receiving a box of parts. It’s actually very impressive. They know the videos get to guys before forums do. Forums get the video fallout.

Well, there's this other thing that people think, right or wrong, that it won't happen to them. We all tend to think, we'll be lucky and not have that problem, or we won't get a lemon, because they're so rare. The Impact is a great airgun, so we all want one, and there are those hoping all this is limited to a few lemons.
It looks like the problems are, if not widespread, then at least prevalent, and need addressing.

I can't imagine ANY MANUFACTURER not owning up to these clearly poorly produced parts and making them right. I mean the cost in bad press alone is much higher than a few parts. I'm not often ready to jump on the bandwagon, and I've had a lot of great FX rifles, but this would make me furious if the wouldn't rectify it. It is beyond clear that this is not something a customer could have done, it screams manufacturing defect.

I sure hope this gets resolved quickly and FX can maintain their reputation, but they need to get in gear.

Well, I was afraid of this. I have my brand new M3 up for sale right now, but I might keep it. It's perfect with zero issues period and the QC is perfect. I don't know why they released the M4, it's clearly not as good as the M3. Maybe they wanted to cut cost and started using cheaper labor, etc. That's a real shame.
Money grab, people wanting latest and greatest.

When I got the M4, I expected a slow first shot or two that I hoped to rectify with a bit of ingenuity. And maybe polish a couple of internals, reg etc. to make it a really nice rifle. Which was fine by me since I don’t have to delete a reg, will get a really nice trigger (and the trigger on the m4 is really nice), cocking lever locking in place and a couple of other things. What I didn’t expect is general QC that sucks a*s and a nonchalant we don’t give a flying f attitude from FX about issues like the ones reported here… they should by now know which serials are affected by bad orings, valve rods or whatever is causing the 20 warmup shots, they should know which employees showed up drunk for assembly and they should know which batches of parts had holes drilled with the same accuracy some of their liners are shooting. Any reputable business would reach out to their distributors and ask them to go back to the consumers with affected products with instructions how they’re going to make it right. They’re having a product liability lawsuit brewing… Even more ridiculous that it’s on their flagship. I have multiple FX which I absolutely love, including the impact, and their “simpler” rifles are awesome. But you can’t built an impact like you build a Wildcat or a Dreamline…

I would be shocked if UA wouldn’t take care of an issue. I’ve always wondered if the manufacturers reimburse a dealer for shop rates when they have to repair guns that shouldn’t be sold in the first place. I sure hope so.

I‘ve fixed everything I disliked with every Impact, except my first one many years ago, I’ve ever owned. But I will side with every guy who doesn’t want to. Not for two grand plus. Yes, the new starry eyed owner should buckle up and be capable of endless tuning but he should not have to reinvent part of a $2k gun to get it to function like a $300 gun. Not a hater, just realistically holding a top tier brand to even medium tier standards.
