FX Impact MKII 22 - amazing group

I don't think Bob should be posting any 10 shots group to defend or show that his gun and skill level is worthy of anyone's approval. His videos have shown multiple times with his long range kill shots. His gun is a hunting tool and as long as it gets the job done, then it is all good. People should judge themselves with their own guns and shooting skills. I don't understand why anyone would require someone else to prove anything. If your gun shoots well, then great! If you want to find out the accuracy of slugs, pellets or brand of guns, then buy it yourself and do your own test and judge yourself. No prize for bragging rights. Just enjoy shooting air guns and learn as you go along.

peace.

VERY nicely said. I’d love to be able to TWO shots that close at 100 .

From and outsiders perspective people in this hobby act like group sizes are a direct representation of what hangs between there legs. Lol I just think it would be neat to see the gun shoot at least 10 shot groups at 50 or 100 yards.

Bob I believe you and your gun shoot very good. You’ve proven that in your videos. I’m just about to buy your exact setup and would like to see how consistent these guns are. I will use mine for hunting but mainly for target shooting. I want that insane accuracy. But I am not up to date on how much slugs cost can you fill me in.

You know this stuff is only as important to you as you perceive it to be and everyone's opinions are for the most part welcome. Your comment directed to "people in this hobby" is a generalization which if you would hang around a while you will find doesn't apply. Your request to see ten shoot groups is a reasonable one but slugs run about three times what pellets do. How much better is a ten shot group over a three shot and especially for a hunter? What does a group shot by another person mean? Nothing more then it's an indication of what the gun and ammo MIGHT be capable of. I like to think of this group as a collaborative effort rather then a competition. Its reasonable to point out short comings and offer constructive criticism ( I do it frequently this being an example). Bob's post said in the title AMAZING GROUP. He hasn't claimed anything more then that. You can form your own opinion and I have mine. I'm with you in your quest for "insane accuracy" I've bought some slugs haven't tested them beyond fifty yards but I can't shoot as well as Bob can so I guess my private must be smaller. Right?? 😁If I thought that I could shoot groups under an inch I'd buy an impact as well. I've got plenty of guns and none of them shoot like Bob's guns do. Reminds me of a friend who said about his four failed marriages " I was thinking one day about the common denominator" I hope when you get your impact it shoots as well as Bob's. Be friendly it will get you more. Post some of your groups. Ten shots if you like

Bs25,

IMO, a great 10-shot group reflects more on the shooter than on the gun/ammo/equipment......similar to bowling or golf if you've ever played those games.

What matters to me is that the gun do it's part if I do mine. Both this gun and the Crown have turned in multiple sub-moa groups.

If you want to target shoot, probably stick with pellets.

bb,

Yes, it was a group the gun happened to turn in for those three shots, that's all. Definitely not representative of what I do with it on a regular basis.

What these slugs do for me on paper translate directly to what I do in the field. Shortly after shooting that group, I proceeded to drill starlings back-to-back at 127yds, sparrows at 100yds and pigeons at 168yds.

With all positive intentions I do mention that when I fine tune an Impact, it takes me a lot more time to achieve 10 shot good groups time and time again.

To me 3 shots tell me that the my Impact is 80% well tuned and its barrel is 100% capable.

Then I start fine tuning of reg, HST and valve settings.

After shooting a few hundred shots I reach to the point where I get smallest 10 shot groups again and again.

This eliminates flyers to great extent.

Sometimes when I get regular good 10 shot groups, I move on to 20 shot group. If those are still good (though not as good as 10 shot groups) I become sure that my Impact is well tuned and will shoot good groups even on a bad day and super excellent groups on good days.

$20 per 100 rounds!

And most aren't as accurate as pellets at 50 yards but at range 100 yards + they maintain way better consistency as they buck the wind like a knife! Complete game changer in the airgun hunting world. And no matter the range they hit like a truck!

James from Michigan,

I haven't shot them beyond 50. I take it that you are saying they are no better at 50 then pellets (my findings as well) but DO shoot better then pellets at 100? Essentially because pellets don't carry to 100 well? I'll have to give them a try at 100.

As far as hitting like a truck. I've hunted with them again not at extreme yardages and I can't see any advantage FOR ME. What I don't like about the slugs is they tend to jam up my rifles (Daystates). They seem to be loose in the mags not allowing the mags to rotate. The FX rifles must be different???

What do you use for a rest when shooting your groups?

Bob I don't know if that question was directed at me or not but I shoot off that front rest I made using a scissors jack and a conventional rear rabbit eared bag. I can't seem to master a bipod. When I hunt I use a larger bag (have several) which I some times prop on the window frame of the car or if I'm staying for a time I'll set up a table and use my jack and rear bag.

The slugs seem to slide back in the daystate mags. They don't have a skirt like a pellet not sure if that's the problem or variation that makes the difference but two things happen. If you fill the mag full the last one will typically falls out as you load the gun and then often the gun jams up not allowing me to cycle in another slug. Seems as if it binds against the area that the probe comes thru. Its like the slug gets turned ever so slightly off center and the edge of the slug binds. Pellets might do that as well but being thin in that area it might not stop the rotation of the mag. Some one else who shoots Daystates might have a better idea.

LOL just watched your shot on the starling. You know your cheating your cross hairs stay right on the bird. Mine are moving around. Laughing but that's a LARGE part of it isn't it. Sight picture and trigger control.

It's also interesting as well that there is some slight recoil when the gun is fired. You see that clearly in the video.
